If I had a 3000 I would have the floppy booting Rohan's OS at all times. All you gotta do is DL it, just do it.
Cheers,
3.11 in ROM will boot to 3.16 in most cases with all the usual problems associated with floppy disk based, single session, OS boot.
1: Reduced sequencer memory.
2: The pain of booting from floppy.
3: Another bunch of technical issues beyond the nature of this post.
Other than these issues above; Version 3.16 does exactly what it says.
( note: boot any OS from a floppy on an MPC3000 and the point raised above apply ! ).
3.16 in ROM ? That is a different story.
1: Sequencer memory is not reduced.
2: Booting is immediate as you would expect from ROM.
3: The bunch of technical issues beyond the nature of this post no longer apply.
3.16 in ROM has so far satisfied:
1: People who had an older version in ROM ( 3.00, 3.03, 3.08, 3.10 ) and were considering upgrading their machine to 3.11 anyway.
2: People who have removed the floppy drive from their MPC3000 and cant use the floppy disk based, single session, OS boot option any more.
People who have obtained 3.16 in ROM have also had their boot screens heavily customised as an additonal "security/ownership/bragging" feature.
Now ... back to 3.16 on floppy... enjoy the free ride folks !
Thanks all for your interest.
Rohan.
