Chopping A SAMPLE???

How do I chop off the last part of a sample? I only want the first few seconds i recorded and i want to cut off the rest?? PLEASE HELP. Peace.

what mpc are you using?

on the 2000, you want to go into TRIM mode and select your start and end points. once you have those, press the F5 (CUT) button and it will cut out whatever you didnt select....

im sure it is...

you can chop longer samples up by going into znEDIT. then you can select and save different pieces of a sample. but you can achieve what you wanna do in TRIM mode.

Ok, I went into trim. Will i be able to hear it play back the way i want once i set my start and end points cuz when I play back after setting my points, it still pplay the whole thing?

Not trying to diss or anything but you really should try using the manual also.

Everything you are asking is in there. They key is too push the buttons you read about while playing with an experiment sequence/sample. If you do this I can almost guarantee you will answer most of your own questions.

I don't get it. You could have found the answer to your question in the manual in less time than it took you to post the question. Were you like "nah, I'm not going to check the manual, such an arcane procedure as chopping a sample is not going to be covered in the manual"? Guess what: chopping a sample is one of the most basic procedures you can do on an MPC, and it's covered step-by-step in the manual. The manual is a book that comes with the MPC and explains how to use it (great idea, no?). If you don't have a manual, download it.

yea these are basic pretty basic things...

but what i do if i want to hear what im doing is go into znEDIT and select my start and end points. from the znEDIT screen you can select what you want to listen to..... "PLAY X:"

select ZONE and you will only hear what you select......find your start and end points. write them down or something, then go back into TRIM mode and use the same start and end points.....then you'll have your selection...

but yea a manual will help a lot
