i still don't know why anyone would get an external CF reader. The 1k is fast enough for me and yes i have large samples that i transfer and the speed is still ok. wait.... the only reason i can see that is because when using the 1k's CF slot to transfer it locks up the 1k.

but to answer your question, yes, that reader seems good at a good price but as far as the CF card for 30 something, i would go for the 1Gig card at:

because its so much faster. usb might seem fast but once you try an external reader you'll kich yourself in the ass for wastin so much time. i'd at least give ita shot sparq.

yeah, one of my pins bent but i took it apart and fixed it after i found out that akai/numark don't cover the card reader in the warranty.

external card reader is imho about 1000 times faster than the cf reader, the mpc got...

If you get a USB 2.0 external card reader it's way faster than using the MPC, which is USB 1.1

1.1 = 12Mbps
2.0 = 480Mbps

Backing up my 512MB card used to take about 45mins, so I got an external reader. That way I can play with my MPC while it's backing up, and it's way faster.

that's if your computer has a 2.0 USB port. true all new computers has 2.0 but if you have a computer that was built early last year or before, chances of you having a 2.0 USB port on there is very slim.

but i understand what you are trying to say.

regardless, i still think the CF reader on the mpc is fine.

not only is it faster with a card reader, it's a million times more annoying to do the stupid USB cable thing every 5 minutes. with a reader you just pop the card in and youre done with the whole xfer like it's nothing

usb card readers are very very the bomb

because you can download things from other peoples computers, or bring your samples, tracks, whatever to other places easily.

and they are oh so inexpensive

plus if you're like me and have no internet at home, you need one just to get the newest os at the library
