4-Band Filter / EQ

im about to get the EB16 and saw, that there is no EQ in it, but a 4-Band filter.

my question: is the 4 band filter comparable to an 4 band EQ or is there a significant difference?

this is a good question, I wanna hear what people write to this too...Ive had the eb-16 installled for a while but never use the eq because i dont really notice a whole lot of difference and if i do its very subtle...

the 4-band filter is what i ment, not eq

im not really to familiar with it i just rotate till i find a decent sound, its got a nice lfo on 2 of the bands, add a bit of movement and swell to the sound.

havent got it but guess that the filters have a steeper slope and probably a small q which cant be set.

These answers best describe how I use mine. It's not an eq. An eq add volume to whatever freq you choose, the filter cuts out whatever freq you choose. If I'm wrong someone please help a brother out.

what exactly is the q ? i seen in the manual that the 2 middle bands have this parameter, but what does it do..?

Resonance, it boosts the level of the frequency the filter is tuned to.

At least not technically.
On an eq you can sometimes set the bandwidth and center frequency, and sometimes they may call one of these Q, but in synth sampler terms, Q is resonance, and resonance makes a peak at the cutoff frequency.

you could call that widening the slope, but it isn't technically correct.

thanks, so the q does not affect bandwidth in the mpc?

I would guess since I don't have one, that it may widen the passband, but not the slopes.
