you're also going to need a mixer to hook the fantom and mpc up to. you have to remember, when triggering from sound mods, you are only triggering midi data (which has no sound) so if you want to hear the sounds from the fantom you need a mixer that's connected to monitors.

I've never heard of that? You need a mixer to hear midi recording?

The point is, once u are midi'ing up the mpc and something else, u get sound coming from both units... so if you wanna hear both at the same time thru your hedphones or monitors...

u need a mixer.

which reminds me, I wish the MPC let u set "monitor input" to ON even when on the MAIN screen, cause then u could get away with no mixer in some cases.

You could get by with two headphone extension cables. Plug the male side of each of the cables into the headphone outputs of the rack unit and the MPC. Then get a 1/4" balanced male (2 on one side) to 1/4" balanced female (on the other side). Plug the two male connectors into the headphone extension cables and then plug your headphones into the female side of the cable and you are set!

Peace

That's if you want to use only headphones

Whatever means you use for audio out, the midi channels need to be set.Assign the preset, program or what Roland XR calls the sounds to a midi channel and on the mpc set type:MIDI pgm:OFF midi:1A (or 1B) whichever the midi ins/outs are used on mpc. I saved a program named midimap for module control.hilite program, hit window, go to F4(note). assign pad1-35, pad2-36 and so on and save. when you load this for midi module use, the preset cand be played chromatically (in order). I believe I got this from http://stereoroid.com/sounds/mpc1000
