Aight, my homeboy has an MPC 60 and he pretty much masters the thing. He used to sequence with a proteus 2000 with program change on, but he recently sold the proteus and copped a motif rack and a micro q synth. He can play the instruments through the pads, but when ever he tries to assign them to some of his old beats, or tries to record new material in general, the instruments cancel each other out. There is a lot of constant clicking and you really can't hear them that good. We first though it was the polyphony, but we soloed some channels and the same thing happened. Is the midi cables, the MPC or a setting in the racks?

the program chenges the midi channels and patch numbers from the proteus are trying to access the new racks and messing up. The whole old beats thing with so many changes is asking for trouble unless he knows his shyt.

have him mute the old midi tracks and set up new ones for his new gear and set up the patch numbers and such for each machine. Patch and bank changes try to access specific gear, that might be causing the problems.

I appreciate the help. My homeboy is going to try it today as soon as he gets out of class, but he said that he forgot how to change the patch numbers for each machine and what not; guess he hasn't mastered it after all! Anyway, got any tips on that?

Read the manual for each machine, each rack will have different bank select numbers.

Aight, we tried everything, but it still won't work. We have yet to mute the channels and try to set up new sounds with the new gear, but it doesn't look like isn't going to work either. I will report back with something in a while.
