Different synth presets on MPC 2000XL

I recently bought a Planet Phatt and need help to figure this out! When i have recorded a synth melody with one preset, how can i record drum sounds on topp off that? In other words, how do i use different presets at the same time? My mpc is connected to microkorg via midi, and the mo phatt from midithru on Microkorg to midi inn on the planet phatt.

you gotta change the midi channel your working on. for every instrument you want to use on the synth, you need a new midi channel. its that simple...you have 16 to choose from

yes i figured it out with your help!! I use the mpc2000xl! The only thing thats bother me now is that, when i f.ex have layerd a snare pattern on track2 from the planet phatt, the disiplay on the planet phatt doesnt change when i go to track 3 to layer the kicks! it stays on the first preset that i used?!
