New to the game!

I am a musician and do to some recent developments in my life I now need to make a living of this. I just orderd a 2000xl and a phatom. Whay advise can you give someone like me. I'm looking to make this a life style not a job!

get a day job. if you rely strictly on music to make money and stuff, then your music will turn out to be shiit.

This is a hard one, it's not right being in the 2k2kxl forums but I don't where else to put it.

You did the best thing and signed up unto the MPC Forum.
The cats in here got a lot of experience and knowledge to learn from.

2kxl, and phantom, some cables to connect them, learn about midi, monitor speakers, def download the 2kxl manual. Your good to go for a LONG time. Try to max out your 2kxl options.

Nothing! Its a breeze to load up sounds or sample new ones in tho

Make sure you got what you need, not what you want.

if you are serious about this you would ahev already or at least looked into what a sampler does, if you had you would know of the ways-

sorry but seems some odd questions for someone wanting to make this their 'lifestyle' - if you had never experienced rocket science but knew you wanted to make it your lifestyle you would start by reading about it no?

Easy, easy. This guy has my exact setup. Definitely learn about midi and syncing because the quantize on the Fantom X is crap. Other than that I happen to think it's the best workstation out right now.
