My external zip drive has died and my hottest sounds are on zip disk. My question is should I locate another or make the switch to cd rom. I have a buddy with a zip that I could use in transferring my sounds to cd-rom, so converting won't be a problem. Which would you recommend? If possible please include manufacturer, make and model. By the way, the drive has to be mac compatible. Only scsi will do.

Just in case it's not obvious, I'm using a MPC3000LE.

I wouldn't recommend switching 2 a CD-ROM drive b/c the MPC can't write 2 it. It's a good way 2 burn (pun intended) through a lot of discs every time u want a new sound. Secondly, u should use a dedicated zip drive 4 the mpc. I'm not sure y but when u use the mpc formatted drive with a compuiter it messes things up... or so I've heard. If u r looking 4 an alternative 2 zips, checc mpc3000.com 4 info on installing a multi-card reader. Hope that helps. -=uno=-

Just get another zip or the multicard.
