chopping?!?!?!

Just got my 2kxl...and I can sample...but I need to know how to chop. I don't really understand. Is it more or less copying a named sound to a few pads and trimming down each one? How do you do that if that's the case? Was there a chopping tutorial on here? Trying to get some step by step help as this isn't really covered in the manual. I'm just trying to chop drum breaks now...getting into chopping up other samples later. Help a brother out...

yeah you chop the samples up. if you want to use what you chopped you have to make it a new section.

if i were you i would just to chopping on the comp and then do what you got to do on the mpc.

I feel like this question has aready been answered more than one time in this forum. Maybe you should have a look in this forum's archives for topics about sampling technics, you might find some interresting advices.

you're almost there then. just cut up that break into whatever you think sounds good. Use your ears. Check page 103 of the manual like my man said. There's not that much to it, there's no "secret" technique or anything.
Once you've set all your zones you can spread them over your pads, and start messing up a perfectly good break
