All I want to do is record the drum pads as I play , then record it EXACTLY how I played them. How do I do this and then loop it?

also, turn loop off and play the pads for as long as you want. when you stop, turn loop back on and the whole performance will be looped

If you turn off QUANTIZING then it will be off meaning it wont affect note placement. QUANTIZE is automatic placing of notes, of course you can choose different settings for this. On the main screen just turn it off and tap out your beat like you want. Quantize function is in the manual. Read about it and maybe that will clear up some of your questions.

Quantizing is AKA "Timing" in the MPC manual.
