I make a pgm file with mpc editor and burn it on cd. When i try to load the cd into my mpc2000, scsi device (cd-rom) is recognized... but type=?????. Anyone know the solution?

Are you making the pgm with wav files assigned to the pads? The old classic mpc2k doesn't read wav files from the cd rom, only off of a floppy or zip disk for some odd reason. All the sounds have to be in .snd format on a cd rom to be read on the old 2k...

Not completely true, the problem is that the 2k classic does not recognize the standard cdrom format like the 2kxl does. You can wrrite your own akai formatted cdroms but thhat is quite technical ish. Check the useful links sticky it contains a link to a site describing how to burn your own Akai fromatted cdroms.

ya those cd instrucs looked too crazy for me... will I run into the same problem if I save MPCeditor pgm files (converted to .snd which is what it does)-----> saved on a zip disk and transfer to the mp (2k)?

so ur saying its the external-drive I use w/ my mp (cdrom vs zip) thats f'in me up not windows xp or software ish?
-Another question, does blue-box or mpd16 software work w/ the mpc 2k? Reason im wondering is b/c I got a usb/midi interface (m-audio) and want to assign wav (or snd files) directly to pads from pc. If anyone knows any tricks on connecting mp2k-to-pc i'd be thankful (ps gracious-thanx 4 replies)... 1
