Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I usually use a filtered bassline from the sample somewhere in the song chopped up, and if it needs some more umph, I use the MPC sample packs on this site and layer them with the sample and eq, or use a long filtered 808 to match the filtered bassline, you just have to watch it so it doesn't get muddy.

That's one of the reasons Im asking this question
I hate the way that sounds...I'll do it here and there but set it to another pad on 'note off' so that i can just make it come in at certain times. IMO beats with the sample filtered with no freq as the low end sound unprofessional. Beatminerz hooked it up back in the day but...still doesn't sound that great.

nooo, you're mistaken..Check my two joints on Soundclick for references for great quality sampled basslines on

Check: "The Happiest Days" and "Smile"

It would take you a while to find a bassline that would match the beat you have already made. If I sample a bassline, I choose the rest of my samples based on that bassline. It's much easier to get a sound module such as the MicroKorg.

agreed. i've owned an ms2000 for like 4 years, I love the bass sounds

use the bass more than anything - microkorg is just a mini ms2000

Anyone here using a Subharmonic Synth?

I've heard of cats using these to beef up various sounds to make basses.

i was thinking of getting a bass guitar, but than you need a decent amp and a mic to really record properly...
or where do you plug the bass in if there's no amp, and does it really sound nice without an amp?

yessssss learn how to play bass guitar. I went out to a pawn shop and got a real decent bass for under $200, I run that thru an efx processor, and there ya go! you can add layers up or down octaves, pitch bend, WHATEVER. This is the best way IMHO. peace.
