No it goes in the PCMCIA slot.... that is the top slot on the card reader posted above. The bottom slots are Smart Media (on the left) and Compact Flash (on the right).... the card will not fit in either of those slots.

Was wondeirng
if you all could talk about
the options i would have
other than saving to zip disc
with an MPC 2000
I want to get all my old sounds off zip disks asap !
Im losing songs by the month

Would i be able to sync a cd burner to the mpc
and back up my kits and sounds on cdr?

What kinds of reliable storage drives
are available to the 2000
and what is the best solution?

thanks

External: CF Drive or Hard Drive! Or even both. CF so you can dump into you PC and then make backups there too (CD/DVDS etc)

No burner sync im affraid

Thanks
will a CF drive work with a MAC on OS9?

Also can you recomend a external hard drive for the MPC2000?
That would have to be a SCSI drive right?

thanks

If you get a portable cf reader to slot in your mac, you'l be ok (as long as u get the formating specifics right) The card will then be transferable between the two.

I dont have any model specifics fot external drives....SCSI is what u need in your life tho , yeh.

Theres alot of storage device info in the database though. 15 mins of search and read will bring u right upto speed

Forest, what's good homie?

Yeah man, you need a card reader for your PC. These lexar joints (below) run about $20 and work really well. All you would need to do is copy the sounds off the cd on to a the compact flash card and then load them into the MPC.

But if you are interested, I have CD rom drive for the MPC that I'm not using (it only loads sounds, you can't burn to it). I'll give it to you with the SCSI cable, just pay the shipping..... holla at me on schiphop if you want it.

This reader you have pictured here
Does it have a scsi port?
Something like that would be cool for my
compact flash cards from my SP 202
getting those sounds into the mpc
However
Im a little confussed
CF Cards are kinda small no?
how many kits and songs from the MPC fit on a cf card?
Also
would nt the mpc try to reformat the card?

I have a cd rom drive that is SCSI
That probably would be the best thing
for loading
just to burn cdrs from my mac and then load them
onto the MPC
but i still have to figure out the perfect saving system
Sorry to wax on
but how does this sound

SCSI HD --------for saving and loading kits and songs
SCSI CD ROM -----for loading cd sounds

Confussed about:
CF CARDS FOR SAVING?
MPC PROGRAM MAKER?
GETTING MPC DATA ONTO MY MAC 0S9?

No doubt man, if I had to do it over, I would get the other reader too. I like to microtech, but there are a ton of read only ones out there on ebay and a bunch of busted ones too.

The lexar I posted is a USB drive and will not work with you mpc. It will however work with you MAC OS 9. CF cards come in various sizes, but to 2gigs and higher. they are good for moving files from pc to mpc and back. You can store a tone of files on a 512 or 1 gig card....

The problem with hard drives is they are hard to back sometimes, and if it dies, so do your files. Back up is essential..... I got this PCMCIA hard drive just to complement my Card Reader. I would recommend the Card reader first so that you can back up files easily to the pc. Get the HD next, save all your kits on it after you already have them on the pc. Then your files should be covered.
