step sequence your drums, and play them back at 190 bpm.

and........

buy a yamaha sk-1

buy a Roland TB-303.

buy a Kyma workstation.

learn Max/msp.

And make music for 15 years and you will sound like one of them. (jk)

go to www.warp-net.com to listen to Afex Twin and Sqaurepusher
and go to www.nijatunes.net for Amon Tobin.

Dleted is 100% right, make music for 15 years. You're talking about the best of the best here, they probably spent years just tinkering with their gear and months making one track. The best thing you can do is the same, learn your gear inside and out. I would suggest a Nord Modular, they make for the ultimate in flexibility. Also keep in mind, the gear that those guys have is nuts. I'm sure they've got $5-10,000 Lexicon reverbs, Neve pre-amps, tube compressors, the works. Ah and in some cases studio musicians. As far as sequencing techniques, LISTEN TO MUSIC and recreate it. Try to hear all the tiny nuances that a drum or instrument sounds like at differnent moments. You could try getting a record and playing it reallllly slow, copying a beat, and messing with it. Good luck man. By the way, Amon Tobin has a cd out under the name Cujo, and you may be able to find live stuff of his on Soulseek

why dont you just sample loops off their cd's for gods sake. why not try and take there style to a new dimension, and not emmulate it but make it new and exciting.

Because sampling is illegal and emmulating is not
