Why do Akai USA have the MPC 2500 buried in the website. It is the latest MPC. It should be on the main page with Pete Rock holding it (or me)

because it is not officially out in the US. if you notice, the manual that the akai US has for the 2500 is the exact same one that was on the japan site.

Nothing worked. I only have APS and ALL files saved from my 2KXL.--NO indiv. SEQ. files so I'm assed out. I tried making the ALL. a SEQ. file and it said the same thing WRONG FILE. I made the name 5 charac. and that didn't help. Then I made a beat on the 2500 it and saved it---then went back and loaded it with no problem--just to make sure I didn't have a faulty unit.---So hopefully things will change with OS updates or I'm back to flucking step one.

I feel you but Akai never stated that the MPC 2500 will use APS and ALL files from older MPCs. I hope catz won't purchase this item hoping/expecting added specs/features.

I just bought this new Camry XLE V6...and don't expect Toyota to give me a future upgrade so it will perform like a Lexus :D

thats why i dont want this unit. its compatible with NOTHING! NADA! DE RIEN!!
How are they gonna make mpc users upgrade to this uncompatible machine? ...

"The 2500 cant read 2000 files." There s something seriously wrong with that sentence

Its like Microsoft would make a new Windows OS that doesnt support executables and dlls...
Its like Sony would make a new DVD player which only accepts vhs....

One word: STUPIDITY

I remember when I first got my MPC, my friends say: "Doesnt Akai make junk? Why did you buy something from Akai? You have Digidesign, Roland stuff... Why Akai?"..................... NUFF SAID .

As the specs stated:
DATA COMPATIBILITY
• MPC1000 SEQ, WAV, PGM
• MPC2000/2000XL SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of PGM file can be loaded.)
• MPC3000 SND (THRU Computer)
• Z4/Z8 WAV only
• S5000/6000 WAV only (THRU Computer)
• S1000/3000 No compatibility

Akai is not making/forcing anyone to upgrade/downgrade. The MPC 2500 can read Akai 2000 files but not MPC 2000 ALL files. Deal with it or not deal with it..your choice.

drumtrack, you seem heated for something that you don't own. Relax. There are alternatives

Someone should write a program for the PC/Mac which splits out the components of the ALL file into a folder. Who's got the file specs?

its a new item an there will be problems an issues...big deal..get over it..its to be EXPECTED FROM AKAI.look at their record!!

Give it a few months AFTER its released in the usa for all the bugs to be worked out and new os fixes to arrive.

i do hve to laugh at you guys the expect the newest product to be bugfree from the getgo..i mean realllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy...come on....does winows xp still have issues? even though microsoft viSTA is the new operating system? heheheheh

will a program like mpc editor open .aps and .all files? Then we can re-save as .pgm and .seq files??

just hoping.....

Here's the latest specs from the U.S. website:

MPC1000: SEQ, WAV, PGM, ALL
MPC2000/2000XL: SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of a PGM file can be loaded.)
MPC4000: SEQ, WAV, PGM (DRUM program only. Only note assign and tune are loaded.)
MPC3000: SND (THRU Computer)
Z4/Z8: WAV only
S5000/6000: WAV only (THRU Computer)

I have been trying the 4000 factory files on the 2500 for sound comparison. So far so good. I'm still busy loading over 1 GB per day of various files on to the 2500 hard drive.
