I lived in madison for about 5 years. loved it until the 50 got on my trail had to leave. I stayed out in monona. Where you at I still have family there visit from time to time have to hook-up next time i visit. It would seem that reggae wouldn't be a problem soul either since they have a mixing pot of people there people from all over settled in madison my brother and sister moved there in the 70's. But I think the problem is that the town has been raped of it's music.

im from milwaukee
on the eastside there are 3 spots in a 1 block radius.
1 spot has everything under 3 bucks......good selection. All the collectables are across the way to that shop(I think its the same owners. On the other side of the block is a used cd/vinyl shop. Not a great selection, but there is alot of genres to pick from.
