It definitely was a positive situation for me cause now I know a ton of people. On Trick Daddy's Thug Holiday album, song 19 "Aint' no Santa" ( there's 2 versions on the album, 12 and 19) I'm singing the chorus. I also had a song play in the "Fighting Temptations" movie. It's with a new artist named Shawn Kane who's signed to J Records. If y'all heard of Anthony Hamilton, I wrote the song with him and co produced it with a friend. Also, there's about 4 songs I did with Nappy that have been on different sound tracks, and in movies.
Honestly though, all Bull Shi% aside I hadn't been hustlin as hard as I should have. I lost some of my motivation for a minute because I never really had my long term goals in order. Meaning, my only dream was to just make a beat, get it on a major label album, not even as a single or anything, and just see my name in the credits. (Probably a dream shared by a lot of us on this site) So when I ended up doing that whole album, then it went platinum, I was like "OH FU#K" what I do now??? So basically I'm back on the grizzle. I'm about to start pounding these beats out. I'm about to be relentless with this, for real.
Also, I'm an mc, so I'm in the process of working on my album. It's a 2 man group, me and my boy Poetic (dude is sick). It's basically some Fugees, meets Tribe, meets Outkast type shi% (if you had to categorize it). We trying to take it back to when cats made real albums. So basically I'm bout to bang these beats out for folks, but my 1st priority is my album. Oh yeah , my groups name is "Organic". We're about to do this entire album independant, being, we're making every track, recording it ourselves, mixing it our selves, taking all our own pictures and everything without having to depend on any labels budget, so the Major Label bastards will have no influence, no advice, no nothing to say about anything we're doing. And if we don't get a deal, we're gonna put it out ourselves. So y'all got to support it.
Also, look out for me on Trick Daddy's up comin album, Trinas, and Kiah from "My neck my back". None of it is for sure, but if I'm not Bull shi##ing, I should be on them.

Average,
I just checked out digidesigns website, www.protools.com, and man, I have no idea where to start. Thats some expensive ass tools, but what would you recommend starting off with? Just the software, harddrives (which are under $10 G's they said, I almost fell off my chair), or any other things? Thanks bro.

Tell me your budget, and I can definitely tell you what to get. Also tell me what you already have.

Primarily what I have to this point is:
-Dell Laptop with Acid Pro 4.0, Fruity Loops,Reason 2.5, Cubase Sx, and Sonar 2.0
-Microkorg
-Vestax PMC 5 Pro II Mixer
-Turntable
- And about to get the MPC 1000
- Plus about 500 sample CD's and 1000 records

The gear I use is adequate thus far, but I am on a tight budget (just got married, bought a house, have first kid on the way.) I downloaded the free software and it seems to be nice. But the I am confused in terms of hardware, and what is necessary. So to sum up, tight budget but willing to save n order to get what I need. Any other tools or hardware recommendations, adjustments, is greatly appreciated. Peace.

Cool, but I still need a figure: One thousand, two thousand, $500. Then I can really be specific. I've used, and still use everything from the roland 1680 to Pro Tools HD but the price ranges really differ......MPC's are dope!

For now, about $1000 would be it. Over a longer period of time I could swing $2000. Suggestions for both amounts would be great. Thanks Average.
