My mp died tonight

I was working on the mp last night and i inadvertently knocked the power strip off the wall, shutting everything down connected to it. Plugged it back in and everything was working fine so I continued working on it all night till this morning. When I got home today, I powered the mp on and it's dead! All the led lights are on and the screen is blank with random blocks. The power supply is only 2 years old and its been working without a hickup till today. Any solutions? Thanks in advance

happened on your 3000?

Was it a power strip or a power conditioner?

Look on the bright side though, shouldn't be too expensive of a fix though..

it was just a power strip. turned right on, worked fine. i hope its nothing too major. maybe i should take this opprtunity to cop a 60.

Send it to me Ill install the internal power thingy. Just buy the parts and Ill fix for free

it's your 5 volt line, check the fuse and the ribbon connector, see if you see any small burn marks on the ribbon connector, but it's probably just the fuse.

When I got my MPC off ebay I was pissed because all the lights were on.

But I opened it and it was just a loose ribbon cable.
so just check all the cables first

Thanks but I can handle it. i just wanted to get some opinions before i start anything. So I opened it up last night and took everything apart. I noticed one of the pins(labeled 1) on the power supply connector, (big white one with 4 pins) were burnt. I think it's a ground pin. This was a new power supply and I didnt notice any burn marks last time I opened it to replace bunk buttons. I investigated further and one of the leads on the power switch was severed off. Not sure if it melted off or just happened from age. I'll take some pics and post the progress.

All the fuses are intact. However #1 pin on the connector 'P801' and the corresponding pin on the trans block is burnt. Im suspecting same thing caused the power supply to fail the first time. I hope it's the power switch. How can I test the trans unit to see if it's faulty?

check the voltages on the ribbon connector vs. the service notes, you can get them at the yahoogroups homepage.

Bad news. I just finished working on the mp and still not working. I resoldered all the suspect looking spots and cleaned the burnt contacts. I'll try reaplcing the fuses tommorrow. I have to find my multimeter and test the trans box. I really hope my baby is not dead.

Mr Rohan, I browed the files section of your group, but didnt see any schematics on there. Can you help me out here?

No schematics for the 3000 on that list.

I'll have a look through my stuff and see if I can come up with a procedure for you to follow.
