i bought one of my 950s from SoundLogic and it has the shorter backlight, its just dim 1/2" or so from each side... i picked it up down there in person, he explained it to me when i got it... that dude was real cool when i met him, but i must say this... HE KNEW the backlight was a little smaller before he sent it to you, he should have mentioned it to you beforehand IMO... but to me it was not that big of a deal since my other one at the time had no backlight at all... i understand your dissapointment though when not fully informed before commiting to the transaction... i bought all my memory expansions from SoundLogic also, no probs with those... these arent original Akai memory expansion boards either, he makes his own over there at SoundLogic(i am under the impression from my experiences that SoundLogic is a one man operation! i could be wrong though)!

i believe that the digital input(spdif format) is on both the ib-109(scsi expansion board) and the ib-105(atari hd interface expansion board), you must have one of these two boards installed to have the SPDIF(it is integrated into these two boards and not available seperate from them)...

good luck finding either one of these expansion boards, or an s950 with one of them already installed! they are pretty rare... just to give you an idea, i payed around $400 for an s950 with the ib-109(scsi) installed, alot more than what most 950s go for, to me it was worth it though... even though for that price you can probably get two units, which i actually suggest, dual 950s is where its at, alot quicker, the way i work it is for me anyways...

How do you integrate both units? Do you sample into one and just load into the other? how does it work out faster?

I wanna run duals myself for the extra voices, I'd like to run percussion progs on one and instruments on the other. I love sampling with the 950 but I'm allways runnin out of poly on my beats so for me this would be ideal.
