should i trade??

Should I sell my MPC 2000XL-MCD (8-outs & EB16 FX Card) for an MPC 2500? The 8-outs and FX come standard on the 2500, correct? I love my XL, but I'm pretty eager too use the new functions on the 2500. Plus, it looks pretty dope... should I trade: yes or no (and why)?

if you love your xl why would you trade it??

if your happy with what u got stick with it and get some other gear to compliment the xl

If you got the money lying around and don't want to spend it on any other gear, you want and think you can USE the extra features of the 2500, I say why not. Just play with one in-store before deciding to go with it so you know you don't have any problems with the interface, albeit only slightly different from what you're used to.

you'll loose a lot of money cause i gather the 2500 would bring the market price down of the 2000.. i wouldnt do it.

It always amuses me when a new piece drops and people are so eager to get it but really don't understand what it does.You own gear that you are comfortable with and enjoy using but you want to trade it in for basicly the same thing you already have?Are the outs and effects so great on the 2500?What's so different with the outs and effects of tthe 2500?What are the new features for the 2500?What can the 2500 offer that the 2k/Xl can't?Why start over on another piece of gear just because it's newer?

That's exactly what I was hoping to get out of asking... and I agree; no it's not about the out and effects. Simply put, because I'm so uninformed about the 2500, I'm basically asking if the new features will make a more productive and efficient work flow. I'm not saying I'm not comfortable with my current MPC, or it's not adequate enough for my needs. But just as people upgrade and buy new computers, that's what I'm considering doing here. Though, I was looking for something a bit more constructive.

Do a search online about the 2500 and you'll have all the info you need.

I just upgraded from an XL to the 2500 and I really like the work flow of it. There are a lot of features that just make it better. You have to realize that the 2000's technology is practically 10 years old and upgrading is all about getting equipment that is better for you. I was a little discouraged at the file transfering, but all it takes is time. I got a great deal on it and just decided to change. Go for it man, it is well worth it.

I have only owned the my first mpc 2kxl for 2 years and i agree that the I can work better on the 2500. I is still easy to use like a mpc but the workfloow is in my opinion way more efficient. I went for it and i am not dissapointed. but checkone out at your local store

maybe you should trade up for an rs7000. thems the real ish!!!!

dont even trade it. that 2xl is better than the 2500, in my eyes.

keep upgrading if you want ...you will never learn what equipment you have already, because you keep changing every year or so..... and you will be broke as your favorite rapper.......

If you have full blown 2kxl, what I see that you will add with 2500 is a harddisk, cdr and usb connection. So if those options are worth $1,200 to you, then go for it. Figure you get $1000 for you mpc and get a 2500 for around $2200 with tax, give a little here and there. The only one you technically can't add is usb connection. 2kxl harddrive & cdr to hook scsi will run around $500 so you are paying $700 for usb connection. But you get it all in one unit(2500) for that extra $700. Now there are some other features like more ram but I gives guys fezzman about that, rarely use all my 32.
So you got the doe then go for it, personally gonna spend my hard earned money on something else like new mic for $1k or avalon sp737 preamp cause the 2500 ain't gonna make my beats sound better than 2kxl. But a new mic and dope pre will help my recordings.
Now if i come across some loot and got it to through around I would get 2500 but keep 2kxl and go buy me a tr808 to boot. lol

ow yea and the most important thing, will it get you layed?
