I tried it, all I got was a sample of a hot comal bein thrown at my head, made for intersting percussion though....

dont forget vocal samples

OK ...here's another one...I used this on a CD that got good press in "Electronic Musician" for the qualtiy of samples.....

Take a stainless steel bowl fill it about 1/3 full of water - strike it with a wooden spoon/ mallet / whatever. Shake the bowl after striking for a very cool effect. Assign to a keygroup and tune. This makes for an excellent lead instrument. You can make a variety of samples with this method...try holding the bowl still for a few seconds and then shaking. The swirling sound will then come in only on the decay for a more subtle sound. Also make some samples that you "shake" right away for more affected sound. This sample is also fantastic reversed. Use a metal "beater" for a brighter sound...while you're at it, put a towel in the bottom of the bowl and drop some pebbles / pennies / whatever into the water to make your own "raindrops". Steel Kitchen bowls come in a variety of sizes so if you want to create a more "natural" sample, you can graduate the bowl sizes as you sample for different octaves....

Jeeze...Somebody besides Lamp has to have some Sampling ideas that go beyond "Slap yo Momma" .... It is, after all a forum about a very powerful sampler....
