What music genre do you sample from mostly?

Funk,soul,rock,classical (especially baroque music and piano concertos) and soundtrack scores.Of course,if something sounds to me nice,I sample it,no matter what it is.

No specific Genre, I do not discriminate. I might even sample from a children's record if I hear something tasty

i haven't been sampling for that long, but what i do sample is mostly soul, blues, jazz and maybe a bit og old folk-rock(or something like that)..

hell yeh never disregard anythin in the store - watever has a nice cover might be worth listening too, quite often it is.

J-Zone is real good for that. He samples all kinds of ish.

anything that tingles your ear and sets off that rush in your brain to manipulate it somehow. Also it makes things more interesting for people trying to figure out WTF you came up with the sample - love the oddities

Disco, great for kicks or snares... I use alot of foreign stuff, some jazz, and some soundtracks... I don't really rule out any genre but I never sample anything before 1979 unless it's from a movie or video game or tv show. Not that that would be wrong, but it's my personal rule.

I try to avoid to sample a sample if u know what I mean, I don't fieel like sampling from sample based music. I don't mind using samples that have been used b4 though.

PT3r... that's a good rule. Once in a while if I like a snare or a kick that's on a sample based record, and I can't find one I like for a specific track I'm working on elsewhere, I take it if it's one hit... most producers think that's a no no but I take a sound wherever I hear it from. I would never loop a sample based record a la MURDER INC... jacking a biggie loop is just plain lame.
