just copped a turntable

what's good peoples i just copped a turntable its a gemini pdt-6000 i was wondering if that was good........i just wanted it too sample records........i dont have preamp money so i kinda bought because it has a digital out.........but it has a weird connection for the digital out.......it has a little bump on it.......can someone shed some light on this subject :?: plus i dont know too setup the turntable weigth stuff and ride height..........and whats some good needlez to cop or should i stay with the factory needlez...........hook me up witt some info :roll:

Seeing as you're using it only to sample records, you won't have to worry about the tone-arm settings.

With the needles - what needles are you using? If the records sound ok, don't worry about the needles. Like I said, if you're only using the turntable to sample and not for scratching or beat-juggling, don't worry about them.

I'm not familiar with the PDT 6000, but from what I hear, they're ok. Certainly not Vestax or Technics, but suitable for listening to pieces of plastic rotate on the platter.

Erm - not meaning to be an ass, but if you bought the deck for the digital out, why didn't you check it's compatability with your equipment or ask the sales dude about it?
