That sucks about 1.5. I havnt had time to upgrade yet but now Im afraid to. Did they introduce the 16 levels tuning? I was excited about that. Has anyone out their had a problem free upgrade or is everyone having problems?

dunno but i don't think akai as made the 1.5 official, they haven't made any statements on its release nor is it downloadable from the international or usa websites.. guess they are just fine tuneing ..

AKAI made a statement through David Whittle on Yahoo! who said the trouble is being addressed and it will be fixed. They don't maintain their own website very well, and they don't make many announcements through it. David did not say when the next OS version will be available. This looks really bad because it took several months to get 1.5.

If you want to try 1.5, then go ahead. You can reload 1.45 easily enough. Have it ready before you update to 1.5.

hey prod' what's the adress of this forum ?

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mpc4000/

The group is high spirited. Be careful what you post. They have a few angry MPC4000 owners, especially now with the OS 1.5 mess. I have never posted anything there. I only monitor the group because AKAI monitors it.

thanx prod'

English is not my mothertongue, and I don't really understand the word "high spirited"
I think it means that they can get irritated really easily, am I right ?

thanx again prod'

Yes, they are easily upset these days. But this situation should be temporary. Group members come and go. Almost none of the current forum members have been posting for a long time.

Man Mpc_producer, they are some serious hurt feelings over in the other forum man and while my 2000xl has never pissed me off, this post was a tear jerker. I hope I don't piss off or offend mpc-tutor and other loyal mpc users by posting this:

This is pretty funny to me, do you guys think for one minute anyone at akai is, would have or ever has had their feelings hurt personally because of the views expressed on a message board???

That is laughable. I have found the means to measure ones anger or frustration with AKAI, those who bought their MPC4000 Long ago like around when it was first released are FAR more pissed than those who bought their units within just the last 6-8 months or so, or even those expressing sympathy for AKAI and they don't even own a damn MPC!!!

There is absolutely NO sympathy in my book for a company who promotes and sells a $3,000 machine BASED on a set of features they DID NOT Exist!

Let's not confuse an individuals like or even love for the MPC4000 as being contradictory to his sheer disgust, distain, anger and frustration at the company who makes the unit. These two emotions can and do exist with many 4K owners.

Yes, I too am able to make music with my 4000, but the year long string of lies and advertising deception is simply inexcusable.

So those of you who insist on helping AKAI make excuses, by mentioning their hard times and all that, is Bullshit because everything AKAI is doing and the way they are handling the customer support and services and OS updates is a slap in the face to owners of such an expensive machine especially when they continue to release new versions of the MPC (mpc1000) which has already had an OS update in it's short 8 weeks of being on the market!

They refuse to clear up rumors or set things straight about the OS being shipped of to a 3rd party developer, which in my opinion is the reason we haven't had an update in over a year. read the archives for more info on how this rumor came about and why I am convinced it is true.

Bottom line is, stop the pity party for AKAI, they are a company with zero corporate morals and have absolutely no idea what customer service means. The loyalty they are experiencing is because of the MPC's "HISTORIC LEGACY" and not because of the MPC4000 or the AKAI name.

Anyhow, so many have been patient beyond words and this constant delay in OS releases is something we have been dealing with for a very long time and even with the release of 1.5, the unit STILL will not be up to ADVERTISED SPEC!

Have you ever seen a company not even interested in DAMAGE CONTROL, they don't even have the common sense to release a statement or press release to help us all to understand or be more patient. I'm sure many on this list own lots of other gear and are on other list, and we have all seen these other companies release statements so that all will know the companies stand or policies etc etc. but NOTHING from AKAI, not even an official corporate statement telling us the real reasons for the delay in the OS release. I would patiently wait another 6 months if the company would simply explain what is going on, why the delays are happening, just be honest and keep us in the loop as consumers, but the silent treatment breeds the anger and frustration.

David Whittle, are hard as I believe he's tried to help us all, simply does cut it as the official company spokesman. It feels as if David is as much in the dark about what is going on at AKAI as we are. If they could just issue an official corporate level statement and that would work miracles. Now is stands where folks as so frustrated with akai that it is causing a lot of MPC4000 to NOT get sold because of the bad word of mouth. Keep in mind it was the word on the streets that ORIGINALLY gave the MPC it's awesome reputation and following and AKAI had better realize that this same word on the street can kill the mpcs reputation if it's not already dead. Get a clue AKAI, this is customer service 101, NOT rocket science!

The anger expressed towards AKAI on this list is 100% justified and only AKAI can make moves to regain the trust of these consumers.

And to keep in mind that there was no counter argument[/b] to that post, only replies from people who totally agreed.

I've heard alot of bad things about OS 1.50, I guess that's why I haven't switched from OS 1.45, this version has been working fine for me.
