USED MPC 2000xl or new mpc 1000

sup guys whats goin on...
im new in this forum so if ever i sound stupid just let me know lol
Ive been saving money for the past couple of months... workin extra hours... buying little or no records at all ( im a dj ), i go as far as not spending money on food just to save up for an mpc... and the thing is i wanna make a good decision.
should i buy an mpc 2000 xl used or a mpc 1000 new ( same price)
plus... whats the difference between an mpc 2000 and 2000 xl
is xl just the newest version?

This question gets asked alot. Honestly it doesn't matter which one you get they are both great. The MPC 1000 can be implemented more with your computer, but of course all of these answers are only a basic search away my friend. Check out the specs on the akaipro.com website and see which one suits your needs. You really can't go wrong.

i got this magazine called scratch that i read often... i already read in there that i could go see akaipro.com... ive already read all the specs but to tell you the truth man... this might sound lame...
but i dont understand much.. i get lost lol
i cant understand which one suits my needs even if i wanted to...
when i first got dj equipment i knew what each piece of equipment did in general... but the way i got to know them was by actually using em... my first turntables were ok but not great...
i dont wanna make that same mistake now that i wanna invest in an mpc bro

Go down to G.C or any music store in your area and get hands on time with the gear.Now if you think your production will be more computer based the 1000 is a safe bet.The 2kxl can also be used with the computer but can be used more as a standalone all in one.I nkow you said you've done your research but you really won't be able to appreciate the mpc to you get your hands on one.Believe me.

If you are willing to buy a used MPC2000 then look for a used MPC1000.
You can find used MPC1000's anywhere from $400-700 pretty easy.
Still way too many people who got them and needed more so they dump them.

if i go to a store and experience the machine hands on... i dont think theres gonna be a point to that
cuz i dont even know how to use the machine... how am i gonna know how good it is only by going at a store and testing it out...
its like testing a scratch mixer if u cant even scratch

Some how my point was totally missed.
It doesn't matter which one you pick, I was talking about saving you money.
If you would buy used then buy which ever one you choose used.
So if you decide on the 2000 buy it used or if you decide on the 1000 buy it used either way would save you money.
Why pay full price for a 1000 when they can be found used at a good price.
Comparing $999 new to $499-799 used is a big difference as would be comparing the XL at $1695 new to $600-850 used.

plus the mpc is so basic you'll figure it out in like 2 seconds there plus the reps there will prolly help ya abit.

i do this anytime i'm thinking of gettin some new gear. you never know till you actually touch the ish. glad i touched that fantom xa.. lol that would've been a sad thing if i just ordered it blind.

plus they usually have a few different of similar items next to each other so you can see wich one your style picks up on quicker.

in this opinionated question. i'd say at this point if you've never had an mpc b4 i'd prolly get the 1k used jsut cause the os update give most of the 2000xl's features. (does it add auto chromatic assignment?) so thats nice especialy if your looking to use a pc with it. if your going at it with the mpc and just hardware then i'd maybe look more toward the 2kxl. either way your gonna be happy

I say go for the 1000 but make sure it has the new OS 2.0

in my opinion its better than the 2000xl and definitely better than the 2000, although u can make heat with either of them

its the features that make it better, it has effects already whereas with the xl or non-xl u gotta buy a eb-16 card

it has usb connectivity, and u can get an internal hard drive, the filters are much better on the 1000 also

I just sold my 2000xl for a 2500 and the 1000 is very similar, so I think its a better choice

one big difference between the 1000 and the 2000 is the 2000's pads are bigger and less stiff. the 1000's pads are not too comfortable to work with. that you will see when you go to a store to test them out. otherwise they are pretty similar. if it weren't for the pads the 1000 i'd jump ona 1000 but given the pads i'd think twice (though it still may be a good choice)

actually the pads feel the same to me.

the size is different but the feel is somewhat the same.

the only things i hate about the 1k is the data, rec gain and volume knobs.

other than the above, the 1k has the classic mpc feel.
