Newsflash. Marley Marl, Cool DJ Red Alert, and Chuck Chillout are back on NY radio. DJ's are back in the game, Flex used to do it but then he just got lazy, it's not about old, it's about quality and craftsmanship, too many cats got the preskool lego set and think thats how it's done, uh-uh son, the older cats is back and shameing everbody.

Chuck Chillout was cutting up apache at 1:30 PM today, everything else was just playing the singles straight out the wrapper. That's not Djing.

Like ive said many times before, most of the cats who have the view yall do, have the stereotypical view of the southern music, now ya lil john and that crunk shit is gonna get played out(it already has to me for years) but that’s just one lil aspect of the southern sound….
If u noticed none of the artists I mentioned were not “crunk artists” crunk inset a southern thing, its and ATL thing that just happened to catch on. Where im from we like out music fast, just realize the southern hip hop sound is more then what yall think man and encompasses the whole spectrum just like east coast hip hop does, not just some narrow sub genere like crunk

you assume way to much, im not talking to chickenheads, im talking to seasoned hip hop heads and well know cats. I work at BAM and because of that I get a chance to come in contact with some of the best musicians of the world , of various different genera’s. So most of the people I talk to on this matter a seasoned hip hop vet’s not ur MTV Viacom lames…

A lot of ur comments show u don’t know to much about southern music if u think all it is is 808s and nursry rhymes, your really showing ur ignorant’s, if u want raw beats raw rhymes, I suggest u go pick up a scareface album, a little brother album, or an old UGK album or outkasts first 2 albums or goodie mob, DF, or 8ball MJG. It aint hard to find….. just open ur eyes, i consider my self a souther producer and i sound nothing like that.....

yes… some southern artists have a MUCH larger following in northern spots then in southern states and that’s a plain fact, a perfect example is young jeezy….He don’t really get no love in tampa, but here a lot of heads know his album word for word. Three 6 mafia is another example, they have sold more records in Maryland then in ANYWHERE else in the country, if you don’t belive me check sound scan. I'm not talking about an NYC sound, It's just about good hip hop and Veteran DJ's, I'm not saying that's all there should be, but why not have these guys on the radio? I'm all down for variety, but it's about quality, which comes from everywhere. I just happen to like the idea of Dj's that play their own remixes and exclusives and work the tables, something besides top radio and college stations. good Radio DJs with skills.

I really don;t care where the music comes from, or the style, I do not dismiss the south, it's not a north vs south thing, I'm not really that territorial. keep the good stuff coming, NSEW, but 808's are oldschool, the music is new, that's all I was saying.

Son, you got it twisted. I was just showing fault in your statement assenuating that cats who are into "golden era" hip-hop are stagnated. No where did I label "The South" in any form. I was just making a statement counteracting your's so maybe you can kinda rethink what you and other cats are saying about this "time warp" thing. I am not ignorant to southern Hip-Hop, my friend. I knew of Luda when he was working for the radio station in Atlanta. I remember the Dungeon Family before they all broke into little groups, Scarface before he was with the Ghetto Boys, 8ball and MJG when they only rhymed on slow beats. My knowledge is deep, son. I'm a Dj and even though I'm from NY I can tell you about Magic Mike, Disco Rick, Jam Pony Express, MC Shy-D and all those southern cats. I never felt them but I can't knock them cause they really did their thing down south. And my comment had nothing to do with the locality of the music. Just the style. Cause I am sure there are cats in NY who can get as crunk as the best of them down here and there are cats born and raised down here who can give Canibus a run for his money. mike dean, mannie fresh, john bido, organized noize,dj toomp, t mixx, n.o. joe, & jazze pha are really the true architects of the southern sound. lil jon & all his clones are far from the stereotypical stuff southern cats expect.so if you aint comin with nothin thats even remotely similar to those trailblazers then you better get back to the drawing board my friend!
