THINKIN ABOUT COPPIN A 1000 OVER A 2000XL IS THIS RIGHT?

aiight i been debating it over and OVER again in my head..and i think im gonna go with the 1000 instead of the 2000xl and 32mb ram that my boy is sellin for 850...because from what i hear they basically the same machine..except for the time stretch..and reverse sample features...if any of you 2000 headz got any important points PLEASE let me know before i copp tha 1000..

If I were you I'd go with the 1000 for a couple of different reasons.

1. It's more of an all-in-one machine, fx, more outs, more ram, resampling, spdif, etc. Of course you can add most off these things to the XL but with the 1000 it comes standard.

2. If you decide you would rather have the XL instead of the 1000 you can always just send it back for a full refund(unless you get it from GC or Sam Ash, they'll get you for the taxes and the restocking fee!) where as if you go with the XL and decide later that you want the 1000 you probably won't get all your money back.

Either way I'm sure you'll be happy with either one of these machines.

well the only problem is that ive never owned an mpc before..so this would be my first mpc..so i dont know what id be missing...i just want something that i can u se for all my needs..without having 2 switch later on..

Go with the 1000 if you're not worried about OS problems. Other than that slight quirk, I see the 1000 as a better machine. BTW, I own a 2kxl.

well the main things i dont like that iive hear about the 1000 are that 1.it doesnt have the classic hard hitting grimey sound the 2000 sas...2.it lacks time stretch,and someother samples, and 2.its not built as strong as the 2000xl....what you think?

Sorry. With the bit crusher, I think the 1000 can get grimey.

Well, I would say that sound wise, the 1000 is gonna sound like whatever samples you put in it. I really wouldn't worry about that. But don't take my word for it because I haven't dealt with the 1000 hands on. If you edit all your samples on a comp, you don't have to worry about timestretching on the 1000. In my experience. the reverse function doesn't serve that great of a purpose, so I would say to not worry about that either. The most recent track I heard with reversed samples was "zone out" on nas's album. Listen to it. If you really want that sound, maybe that's something you'll have to think about. But still I say, go with the 1000. That's just my opinion.

If using a CPU is one main part to your beat makin...Then a 1000 is better for your beat creating....But if you just stick to turntables, etc... and no CPU. The 2000xl is your number one pick...

The mpc1000 doesn't have enough outputs for me, but if your using a lot of midi gear, and a computer, the 1000 would probably be a better choice. If you plan on using mainly samples in your music, I would go with the XL.
Sweetwater had the fully blown 2000XL's on sale for $1399 about a month ago.. it doesn't get much better than that.
