now that i baught my 2kxl... whats next?

sup guys... i just wanted to ask you a guys a simple question...
i recently baught my mpc 2kxl and its presently getting shipped from the states so im about to get it ... what should my next buy be?
im thinking of first buying a cf card,... a cf reader... a midi keyboard...a better mixer... etc.... in that order
is that the right order? would you change or add anything? let me know
the only bad thing abuot the 2kxl is all the upgrades u have to do after u buy it.. anyways if u guys have any other suggestions dont hesitate

already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the good thing is that ur getting ur mpc soon. the first i would do is up grade your memory, or get a hardrive for it. they dont cost much. next probably a scsi cd drive would be my next guess. A turntable would not be a bad idea either. and of course plenty sample cds and a shitload of vinyl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i already got vynils and a pair of technics
ive been djing for about 5 yrs on vynil now about 2-3 thousand records and stull collectin
so ram and hard drive first.. then scsi card?
i h eard that the best way of saving ure stuff is cf tho
its the easiest and most efective way

get some sounds. learn about the thing before u go crazy gettin keyboards and memory n sh!t like that

FIRST THING: LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ABOUT YOUR UNIT, ALL THE OTHER STUFF WILL COME WITH TIME, UNLESS THAT'S JUST WHAT YOU INTEND ON DOING ANYWAY. FOR THE MOST I WOULD GET COMFORTABLE WITH SAMPLING, THE OPTION YOU HAVE, LEARNING WHAT EACH FUNCTION MEANS AND WHAT IT DOES ETC, ETC. DON'T RUSH YOU'LL MISS SOMETHING IMPORTANT ON DOWN THE LINE. GIVE TIME PIMP IT WILL COME.

P.S. READ AND PRINT SOME OF THE FORUMS ON HERE THEY WILL BE HELPFUL IN DAYS TO COME. ALL THE BASIC QUESTION THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THE ANSWERS ARE ON HERE JUST SEARCH.

marco dayne.... i live in this forum lol... i always try to read up on everything i can that has to do with my mpc... i dont know as much as i would want to know about the mpc... but im takin it one step at a time... i dont wanna rush nothin

As soon as it gets to your house, take the manual and make yourself comfortable, GO THROUGH THAT THING, ITS A VALUABLE ASSET

thx man lol... i started lookin at the one on akaipro.com... my printer is busted so i could print it... it looks huge... but i know i have to read it in order to really understand my mpc... lol ... i don care if it takes me years... i wanna know this machine inside out...
BTW a lil quicky...
if i wanna have a cf card system... i have to get a cd card reader for my mpc...a cf card reader for my computer... and finally a cf card

another thing... is there a way to connect ure mpc via RCA to ur ecomputer( im pretty sure this is a sad question) cuz if u could do that everyone would forget about SCSI connections lol

cuz no matter how much i read up on it on this forum... i can never practice cuz i dont even have my machine yet... anyways im growing more and more impatient... hopefully ill get it this week or else im gonna flip out... ihavent baught a single record in about 3 months lol...(for djing)

rca and scsi r 2 completely different things.....rca is for audio....scsi is for data transfer

The 2000xl is the hippest piece of gear I have ever owned. Skies the limit what you can do once you get into a groove with your machine.
I picked up an instructional DVD put out by Syndrome Inc. It took me
through some nice learning curves. It's called Akai MPC 2000xl Basic
Production Vol. 1
The rest is hands on and lot's of practice. This forum is the best. The
people hanging around are great. Just read all the treads and you will be
ahead of the game.

this guy from a music store nearby is into producing andhegives out courses he charges like 20 bucks for an hour and he told me i could learn thebasics in 2 hours with him

$20 for an hour seems like a reasonable amount to see someone working on the MPC. My suggestion though would be to get your MPC first and spend time (a week or a month at least) trying to figure it out yourself and then go take your hour with a bunch of prepared questions and some experience of knowing what you want to do.

I teach film amd TV editing and every once in a while I teach total beginners and it's very hard to give them any idea of what they can do if they have never even tried to sequence some shots or have no post production experience whatsoever.

It'll make it easier for him and yourself if you have some time on the MPC plus you'll get more out of it.
