Whats Your Basic Setup Like To Record From MPC To PC?

I'm having some audio problems when recording from MPC to PC. It sounds clear when it's recording then when I play it back it skips a bit through Cool Edit Pro. I would think I'd hear it while it's recording but I don't, only during playback. Any suggestions if I should pickup a piece of equipment that would make it much easier and clearer then going from mpc straight to pc?

I have the mpc playing out of my home theatre system, as well as the pc going thru it as well.

sounds like a problem with your pc (and/or) soundcard to me... have you tried updating the soundcard drivers, or perhaps changing the latency?

Well, no. I haven't updated my drivers so I'll try that. How could I adjust the latency though?

I dont know what type of computer your using but if you want to hear it while it's playing, double click on the little speaker in your bottom right corner and bring up your master volume properties. Make sure that all of your line in's are not muted and are turned up.

if you dont' see the line in, that your using click on options then properties and check the box beside the line your using to record. Dont know if this helps but thats the problem I had on Sonar

Check that your soundcard is full duplex. It has to be full duplex to play and record at the same time. Also check the settings and drivers on your PC as mentioned. Stuttering is usually down to latency issues.

NO.......

both latency and stuttering are results and not confiugurable

WHAT IS configurable is buffer size (# of samples per buffer)

the larger the buffer size = the higher the latency and more reliable audio
smaller buffer size = lower latency and possible issues with reliable audio

in a DAW nothing is TRUELY STREAMING in real time. a buffer is filled with a predetermined amount of samples and then that buffer takes the info to your DAW software. the smaller the buffer the closer you are to actually streaming in real time, thus the lower latency

Beware of the Mbox2. Get a used or new M-Audio Firewire.

why recording audio ? all you need is Cubase with Battery(NI). just load the .PGM from your 2kxl into Battery and copy the sequence from your MPC sequencer to Cubase. finito. just remember the MIDI numbers on the MPC pads do not run in numerical order so u have to re-number the MIDI note assignments on the MPC starting from midi note number 36.

can cubase read the mpc pgm and seq files?

sorry, no automated transfer method between MPC and Baterry, you have to assign the samples you used(the MPC .PGM) manually.
the sequence is not a problem. Cubase can not only read it, but it can also organize the sequence depending on how many tracks you have used in your mpc : ) you simply have to "connect" each cubase track to Battery.
personally i find the flexibility from that point endless. you can use all Battery FX`s and modulations.
