Whatsup fam,

Just a little question.

I just got a PowerMac G5 dual 2.7 4 GB RAM

My other equipment:

MPC 2000XL ( without the 8outs)
MF 42 Filter Module
Technics SL1210

I got 1000 dollars to spend. I wanna use everything with my Mac.. what is the smartest thing to buy next. (Back in the days i used to use fruityloops, then went to hardware.. now for the first time i wanna combine both)

My knowledge about PC/software + Hardware isnt really good so. Help me out.

Thanks , Peace

well i always sequenced everything on the mpc2000xl.but i did use adobe audtion (plus plug-ins) to add effects to my sounds.then i would sample them into the mpc.so maybe some kind of sound editing program.(like audition, sound forge, etc.)

I think you need a PC, does reason, FL and all those other progs work with mac?

By BEATPROFESSOR Sun Jan 29, 2006 12:23 pm
Only reason, but im sorry i should of been clearer.

I dont want to make beats in software, i wanna combine my mpc etc.. with my computer.. so i can do the finishing up, and recording on my mpc.

midi interface, controller etc.. some names I saw on the board, but im not quite sure what i need.

you have nore than enough to make beats. Worry about making beats instead of what gear to "buy next"...that's how you fall into the trap of gear lust that I have fallen into, along with MANY others.

Don't fall for it. Make music with the tools you have.

you can use whatever you want caus there is no right way to do it. I mean it should sound good though.
But the most common software that most people have is Pro tools, Cubase, Logic, Live, Cool Edit, etc....
For pro tools you would already have da hardware because you would have to buy it together. But for the rest there are unlimitted combinations, depending on the interface that will fit your requirements.
Just do some research, search tool, and go to da websites of these software.

I use MBOX2 and it works real good for me.

you're gonna need an audio and or midi interface. Check out MOTU, presonus, digidesign, etc...then of course you need the software, and as someone mentioned, would protools, digital performer, logic, cubase. [/code]

yeah tics got a point

dont think u gotta spend ALL that doh

midi/interface, monitors, 2nd hand wax

when gettin ur software u gotta think what u want it to do (maybe u could get a light version of something with an interface that would meet ur requirements)

do the research, go to shops, ask questions
