I just opened my MPC this week and I've already encountered this problem. To matters worse, when I attempt to create new folder, I get another error which reads "system error". I cannot save my sequences or create forlders...please help!!

i have had it happen when over writing. Recently i saved something and now all of my saved projects on that card have the sequences from the new save as their sequence data? I think it has to do with the card i was using, but i dont know, it is real annoying.

Here's the workaround that I found works for me when that exact thing happens. It's all about "refreshing" the file directory display. When you get that system error, simply go back to the main save screen and where it says memory card, switch it to internal memory, then switch it back to memory card. Now when you open up the directory tree again, it should display properly, and you should be all good.

The other error I was getting was the directory error when I was overwriting files. I solved this by not overwriting anymore. Instead, I create a new directory every time I save, and then delete the old one. Sometimes I get the System Error while doing this, but then the fix I mentioned above gets me right back on track.

Pretty glitchy on the saving tip, Not sure if it's my CF Reader or the Card itself, or both, but those workarounds are doin it for me at the moment. I don't think it's an OS 2.1 problem because not everyone is having it, but then again, it didn't start happening until after I installed the new OS. I'm not complaining, I love the new OS, just trying to troubleshoot... back to the beats.....

I just loaded the 2.0 os, and when saving entire memory to my cf card. I also recieved that Directory, which was weird. So took all my files off of the card ,and formatted it on the mpc, and now everything saves fine.. But th eonly time it would give that directory error was when i saved the entire memory...

I guess you are talkin to me... I said you were misataken because you said that there is some sort of limit to how many files can be in the root directory, which is incorrect. Don't take it personal "playboy", I was just correcting you on an incorrect theory you had. I'm glad you fixed your issues, as did I.

It's neva personal, just clarifying what worked for me which couldn't have been a theory since the technique had been proven through trial and error. Maybe I explained it wrong @ any rate I'm not trippin.....

Just wanted to add I also had this issue on an akai mpc 1000 running 1.07. It's a very very sad sad problem that Akai seems to be neglecting. When I called their support they helped zero. Thank god for the forums, otherwise this would have happend to me again. But, looks like this time, I just got unlucky and lost 13 beats :(. Oh well, I'm just happy for a strategy in the future.

Blessed

I upgraded to OS V2.10, created separate files (instead of saving to root), and formatted the CF twice. I'm straight now. No more directory or systems errors.
