shot in the dark. know how to make a fermata in the 1000?

also known as a bird's eye, or a corona...a note is held beyond the duration of its tempo...ie this would change the tempo of the track for a very brief period of time?

i've tried tempo change but either i'm not doing it right or i'm doing it wrong. there's a high possibility that my methods are incorrect or that i am mistaken, too.

In music, a fermata is a point in a composition when a note is held for an indefinite period of time. The purpose of a fermata, or hold, is to allow the audience to consider, for longer than had been anticipated, the music, the mood, and the emotion that have preceded that moment.

Fermata - Hold the note longer, approximately twice its value, or until conducted to stop.

From what I've read and understand it's a regular note that is held longer than what is written on the music page. Sounds no different than the same regular written note, just held longer until the conductor instruct the muscian to stop holding the note and let it go.

but say you want the entire song to pause, slow, and kind of slide off tempo while holding a certain note.

that's what i want.

any way to do this?

ive done it a few times, but the way i did it was cheating, cause i didn;t know how,

i would just bring in a new sequence at say 1 bar, and adjust the tempo of the sequence so the following sequence kicks in where i want it.

I´ve have used the tempo change function in step edit a few times to give a kinda drunk, off tempo drag to some organ notes and ride fills.
I think it´s adds a quite nice character, but I don´t know if that´s what you´re looking for.
I just insert a tempo change command, lower the BPM for 1/4 of a bar or whatever fits the movement needed and then insert a tempo change to bring the BPM up to it´s original value. Gives a kinda bearded 70´s masturbative improvisational feel.

Step edit, tempo changes in mid song, changing of bars like
King and Ry said, should work fine. I've done that before but I didn't
know that technique had a name to it. I guess that explains why I had no clue as to what you were talking about.

What if you used Hold in Next Seq mode, with a 1 bar seq at 300 bpm, then maybe you could just let go of the button?

boooooooo that idea sucks, can you do it by hand (hit stop, hold the key then hit play again)?

tempo change is OK, but it is easier to do a 'fermata' by adding a beat or two to the bar where the note holds. Then you make a 5/4 or 6/4 time signature and hoild the note in the added beats.
Uou can, then insert a Tempo change at the beginning of the 5th beat for added flexibility.
To add a beat go to the time sig (4/4) field, hit window and selecet the beat you want to change. just move the data wheel and add as many beats you want to that measure, then go to step edit and mùake your not as long as necessary.
I use this a lot, I found that when using tempo changes to make a dramatic stop in music I always ended up using 50% or 33%, meaning that adding one or two blank beats would give the same results...
