I'm so excited about getting a mpc 1000

Hey guys, i read mpc forums a lot but I don't own an mpc. I've wanted one bad for like 2 years but I couldn't justify the money. But now, i'm like, hell this is gonna be my new hobby so i should just spend the money. I've been listening to old records and buying old records. I just need a new turntable since i got an old yorx one from like the 80's. I'm gonna buy a vestax handytrax and a mpc 1000 and just use that. Real basic setup. My friend has a synth and keyboard so maybe we'll hookup that up and use it. I like hip hop, but I hate this commercial bull****, all the beats sound the same. I'm gonna dig for my drum sounds and build some dope a** programs. Thats the way them old school cats did it. Gotta bring the old flavor back. So i'm excited to be saving money up. Oh and i'm gonna buy the mpc new, i don't want a used ebay one that might be all screwed up. Gotta save for the good stuff.

good luck.... mpc 1k is great for a minimal setup like that!!! If you take time you can really flip shit on the machine!!!! without anything else, like you said, just the table and the MP.

Not to ruin the fun or anything, but how are you gonna track the beats out/ save the beats in a proper way?

Hey orjan, what do you need to track the beats properly. I have sound forge, acid pro, and adobe audition. Is that sufficent. I also have an 8 channel mixer. Holla at me.

I'm not an expert, but a good way of doing this is to take the 6 out from the MPC 1000 (assuming you have the 1000) into your analog mixer, and mix the beats with the analog mixer. Then you can record from the mixer into sound forge or whatever. If you learn how to mix properly, you will get a pretty good mix this way. You could then take your project files/ seqs & pgms from the MPC and save them to your computer via cf card. If you later on are going to sell the beat or have it profesionally mixed or whatever, you could load your beat up again in your MPC, and track the beat out, one track at a time (kicks at track 1, snares at track 2, etc.). In this way, you won't have to use energy to track out every single beat as multitracks, but you'll still have the opportunity to do it later if you need it.

download the manual and look at the diagra. that shows you how to hook everything up. and explains ALL your basics, then ask the questions that you DON'T find in the manual.

I'm not looking to sell beats, damn, i'm not gonna make like 20 beats in one month then try to sell those. I'm just getting this to do some fun stuff with my buddies. If I get good enough then i'll worry about tracking. For now i'll just mix in the mpc and then resample the song and make it one wav file.

Or you can just bring your mpc to the jam and straight up play it from there.

Yeah i don't know why people think they're pros when they make beats for like 2 months. And everybody asks "What's a good keyboard, sound module?" You can't just get what everybody else is getting cause then you'll sound the same. Get some old synths of something, we don't need any more triton beats. I hate Dem Franchize Boys, oh i think they like me. I think somebody without an ounce of music talent could play the synth in that!
