Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

sup yall
i actually have a mpc3 but this question is important probably pertains to all mpcs. OK i have a question about its sync. i plan on going into the studio to do some tracks with an arranger and me doin the beats while he plays some synth parts. so we have to be in sync. probably dp as the master clock. so i sync midi beat clock into the mpc. however, i am also running an reason on another computer synced to the MPCs clock. basically my question is, can the MPC run as a SLAVE to DP as well as send Midi Beat Clock to Reason at the same time?

Also, has anyone used both outs of the MPC to send clock....MTC to Out A and Midi Beat Clock Out B at the same time?...this will all be going into Pro Tools..
thanks for the help

any light on the subject yet???
well i have tried this once in my home studio....i tried to run the MPC MTC out to the computer running reason. that works fine. then i tried to sync in using Pro Tools LE from the same computer while running reason in the background. Doesnt work. but that may be because they were trying to share midi ports. i have a micro express so that works but i think there may be some comptuer issues here not the MPC issues.

anyone have any thoughts?

what you would want to do is set pro tools as the master clock and slave everything off of that. If you don't have a big midi interface you can still slave the keyboard off of the mpc via the a & b midi in/outs on the mpc. If your using pro tools and reason, I recomend getting ver. 6.1 and syncing via rewire. It will aloww you to sync the programs together giving you full control of the synths in reason alone and 4 independant mono inputs directly into pro tolls. (you may already have this or know this) but anyway - - your problem is an easy fix with a few simple midi connects. Out pro tools into the mpc - out the mpc into the synth. As for reason --- easiest solution - check out rewire. otherwise, give it a try and see if the mp will send out a signal while be slaved. My guess is it won't, but it wouldn't be hard to say that it may work - - you think that with the technology these days it seems possible....anyway good luck with everything and I hope this helps.... PEACE!!!

thanks for the tips... yeah i have had reason working with pro tools alone. it works very well actually. but the only problem i have with that is, you only get audio and reason. outside synths dont get any love. UNLESS you use PT as your sequencer and i am not about to do that. when the mpc is slaved i have not gotten it to at the same time send midi beat clock. i was seein if there was a workaround. maybe smpte?
another thought i had was using rewire and syncin the mpc. but using reason's internal sequencer for stuff. that would require me to be MUCH more organized with my stuff as i will be running three progs (mpc pt and reason) all synced. so i could just make the beat in my mpc with synths, turn it into a song, then create a son in reason....then overdub parts into reasons internal sequencer. then rewire all that ish over to pt... but then when i am arranging if i wanna add a break down here or there, that would be crazy changing settings and adding stuff ot three diff seqencers...thats why i wanna keep it in the MPC...
anyways, looks like this is the way ill be working for now...until i cop that Emu e5000
peace
