It`s nice. Make sure to sure the tempo sync parameters in program with just about anything and click the sync button in edit 2. Use your qlink controllers to set the parameters by ear. I just mess with program in Aksys its some fun and crazy shit making bass, synth keys and sound effects. 2yrs later and just really getting into the part. Forget all that passing samples and crap just sound designing 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Sync is your friend with just about anything plus the retrigger button.

Damn like finding gold in this mutha finally making sense as far as sound designing and flipping phrases and sounds. Many a users including myself slept on Akys working with the programs. It`s definitively opens up creativity. Just sync that bad boy.    No other mpc ha, ha,ha, got to go to bed going crazy on this thing work starts in 7 hrs.

This is my previous post on this but most importantly now this morning what I learned last night is the sync function. Sound is movement and music in sync with the tempo can do amazing things. Program matrix with sync sources to destinations is crazy. 8)

I`m back seems that their some hesitant or uncertainity. Basically make a sequence up playing a phrase or using a sequence loop whatever on the 4k.

Go to Aksys and deep into the programs and sound design main point is to sync all parameters as you go. Read the Aksys manual and use the parameters with the note attach to the source parameters connected with the destinations making sure that the midi clock sync is set on in the edit 2 windows.

Then adjust all the parameters you want custom envelopes, poratmentos slides, filters, offsets in zones, lfo phrases, and the program matrix is where you can go crazy doing you.

All in sync parameters makes it easy to make up some beautiful pads, rumbling bass and whatever you want to make. Still with qlink assigned to EXT to destination you can adjust by ear the sounds you want.

The kicker to all of this is to step away from that small window on the 4k and use that big ass window on your monitor callled Aksys. It is definitely the way to go.

See you fellas time to recycle and design 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

P.S. the other mpcs can`t touch this unless you are working with a Z4/Z8 with Aksys.

:D

Someday it did make sense a long time coming. Read or reread that Aksys with the sequence playing.

good read, good basic info on synthesis.. I still cant get aksys to auto transfer the sample back to the mpc after I edit it in audition tho.... dunno

put your upload cache folder on your desktop and do it manual

Transferring samples is what turned me off from Aksys working with Peak 4 at first and for a while I mainly did everything just on the 4k itself. But I was deeply mistaken. Aksys is more than a interface for file transfer.

It is the heart of the Z8 sampler itself. Too bad a sequencer interface isn`t included but that is in the next m....... aahha that`s a different story forgetabout it. ha ha. Anyways by to the 4k the difficulty of assigning and customing sounds is mostly alleviated with the Aksys system.

A little history and inspiration of the Z8 engine from the mighty KORG WAVESTATION

Wavesequnecing, pioneered by Korg in around 1990, uses a series of dozens, if not hundreds of short samples played back in a sequence that`s triggered each time you hit a note. Each individual sample within a sequence can have independent level settings, and you can set up crossfades between each. Korg`s original Wavestation synth employed that was revolutionary its day, namely vector synthesis. Vector synthesis takes a single wavesequence and feeds it through a standard filter, amplifier, and envelope generator combination, with two associated LFOs and call this a voice. (sounds familiar yet aka program matrix) You can then combine four voices to form a single performance. Using the qlink like the joystick you can mix the four voices smoothly fade from one point to the next.

Key point is sequencing (movement of the notes) as you tweak the sounds before I just layer and tweak hitting the keys or pad without movement of the notes.

Now with a sequence playing, lfos in sync, programming with Aksys as controller and organizer the sound designing possibilites are endless. Remember sound is movement of air pressure and notes are the pitches played back over time. No movement makes it very difficult to use the parameters of the Z8 engine. Sequence a pattern and tweak it till you got the sound you want. Once you are content save your favorite unqie program or patch.

AKSYS is the heart of all of this along with all the open parameters and windows displayed so you can see all of the information without getting lost with just the small window of the 4k itself.

Don`t sleep on the Aksys wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It`s like just using 30% of the 4k only the small window and drum programs like the previous mpcs. 8)

Go for the other 65t o get 95%

Check for yourself. 8)

I'll check out the manual I think what turned me off is when I tried to hit a pad when the aksys was up and the software crashed totally turned me off but I was doing some keymapping and noticed all the options available and tryng to figure out the drum programer in it also where you can assign your one shots to the pads so I'll have another go at it especially being that I program my analogue synths with tons of lovely modulation and noticed the z engine had a lovely modulation section itself so it's good to know someone out there says this setup is working, I've been dreaming abot this lol.....no joke syncing an lfo tri/sqr of a keymapped guitar to the key trigger if available if it is try it out you'll love it on for the 4k lovers.

Haze you say this is working while the 4k sequencer is running edits and all are being read as you update them, awwwww kuff I'll just start reading man.

What I mean is the sequencer should be running when you tweak sounds. I don`t recommend hitting the pads and turning the knobs unproductive.

It is best to make a simple pattern gradually exchange the sounds you want to use as it is looping then start tweaking the parameters to see what you come up with.

your right good stuff there are some extras in the aksys and it is alittle easier to edit ohhh the torture software/ hardware figuring which one's best for my work flow is really the torture, been doing the software thing for a minute so I'm digging the hardware editing but your right the extras are nice and I did come up with something dope last night in which I probably wouldn't have created without using the aksys or maybe it would've just takin me longer and more theory less fun.
