Everybody always talks about it, and if your like me you love that deep think bass kick? But what does 808 mean? Is it a band that uses deep bass or a fequency of the bass?

Pure analog!

I'm working with samples, but I'd rather buy the real deal. I'll upload those samples in a minute and post them here, since the upload I posted a while back probably expired.

I definitely plan to buy a 909 as well as the 808. Is there a specific 909 DIY kit you're planning to build?

The "introspectiv" 9090 i think (try google)

I have bought the pcb already, looks tight.
But I'm way behind on my DIY, there's a x0xb0x sitting here unbuilt as well :o .

Cool. I'll google that up.
From what I've heard, the x0xb0x is difficult to build due to the instructions being incomplete. I'm not sure how true that is, but I'd love to own one, given the advanced features that the original lacks.

BTW, I love running those 808 and 909 samples through the mpc1000's bit grunger. Set the first bit grunger all the way up, link it to another bit grunger and set that half way. Compress, EQ, resample...
Hardcore :!: :!: :!:

Also, it does happen to be a band- 808 State. Signed by ZTT records (owned by the producer Trevor Horn, who I now work for), they were quite big in the late 80s- early 90s. Anyone with an MPC should check these guys out, regardless of which genre you're into.

808 state was some Cool S#!T, Loved "Pacific" on Utd. State 90, and Ex:El with "oops".
I have a Novation Drum Station, which emulates both 808/909.
I've never compred with the real deal, but it sounds good to me (and they are tweakable).

Yup, he's already on my friends list.
Thanks for the Compliment, I'm diggin' your 1 Day track (i like that vocal sample).
I don't keep up with alot of pop stuff, mainly underground stuff "un-pop".
