does anyone use an apple g5 for recording?

whats up yall i just a few questions, im having trouble locating a file on my comp. its an apple g5 osx 10.3.7. looking for the file ( OMS Installer).
any knowledge on this topic. im having trouble reinstalling my tascam us428 which is my midi and audio in and outs from my computer. Also does anyone know where i can find a restore disk. the guys at our local comp USA seem to have no clue when it comes to audio intergration for studios. thanx

A good start might be to realize that OSX uses AMS not OMS. :shock:

it acually uses oms which is used for protools cubase and nuendo, OMS stands for Open Music System. i had my tascam working prior to unplugging the usb cable

No, when Apple went to OSX they created AMS, it's built like OMS and is part of the OS.
Opcodes old OMS (Open Music System) was replaced by Apples AMS (Audio MIDI Setup).
I wouldn't think the Tascam 428 would be so old that it wasn't supported AMS and would require the use of the old OMS protocol.

You should be able to download OSX driver for US-428 and use AMS.

your absolutly right, i did a huge amount of research and i finally got. it does use ams, im glad to because oms sucks anyway. thanx for your help
