OK...WOW...technology..

Anyways...ok I was able to get the mpc1000 and reason 2.5 to sync....it was great....i was able to trigger redrum with mpc pads and use the mpc timing and feel.

By the way...thats all i want...tahst why i bought the mpc for its feel....love it.

So now i tried to sync mpc 1000 with pro tools le 6.4....this is whats happening....everything is correct in the mpc 1000 side of things.....im positive....sparq (hes the man) has been helping me out...we verified that its connecet all correctly and the settings are used...
when i enable midi beat clock in pro tools i choose my out usb midi 1X1...and its not syncing at all.

I press play in pro tools...pro tools starts going but no mPC....as soon as i hit stop in pro tools...the mpc starts playing... the tempo field in the mpc says {EXT} and then goes back to the tempo....

so long story short...nothing will sync...press play in pro tools pro tools plays....press stop in pro tools mpc plays.

anyone have any suggestions...? Or some way I can get the mpc midi info into pro tools....

Thank you!

My setup:
Win Xp
Pro Tools LE 6.4 mbox1
Classic Motif
MPC 1000
Reason 2.5

I just tried the same thing with protools 7.0 and it worked.. I'm running an mbox2 with an Mpc1000.

Just to confirm, you selected Setup>MIDI>MIDI beat clock from the drop-down menu and then checked your interface under "enable MIDI beat clock"?

Not sure why it wouldn't work, but I did switch to Logic a while back because of the crappiness of pt for MIDI. You can track into Logic and then export the waves to pt for editing/mixing. Also with Logic you can have the mpc as the master which is kinda cool. Digi's core audio for 6.4 doesn't really work very well with Logic though (something they've sorted now with 7.0 and the mbox2). Do you have any software you could do something like that with as a workaround? Alternatively you could get the mbox2! Obviously neither is an ideal solution.

Have you posted your query on the Digidesign board?

I do not have other software...and I am running windows do i dont know about logic on windows. I will post on the digidesign site.

Do you know if I update to pro tools 7...or 6.9 will the diamond waves bundle work with it? Or will I need to update my plug ins?

Thanks for the help.

You might need to update your plugins, but from what I understand it won't cost you anything if you do. Do some reading/asking on the digi board and you should be able to get a better answer.

Peace!

PS Yeah Logic is no longer made for PC.

Updating your plugins should have nothing to so with syncing with PT. You have midi beat clock on right? What about with the 1k? Do you have midi sync setttings ayite with that? Check your 1k's mixer and ensure your associated pads your using are headed to a stereo out or mono 1-2 for example. If you have you aux input in PT setup as mono and your pads in 1K aren't set to this, you could hear nothing. In PT, do you have mpc setup as input filter. I have no problems with gettin audio to PT, but midi's another story when trying to get midi data 'on the fly' so to speak. The alternative route you can do here, which I find pretty useful is to save your sequence as a midi file, go into PT, import the file, set you ins and outs properly and you should be in business. Hope this helps yo

ok, here's the thing that's going on with staronejazz..... i've been helping out quite a bit. the setup is like this:

windows XP pro service pack 1
mbox 1 v 6.4
mpc1k

that's the basics

i confirmed all cables and settings are accurate (midi cables going to the right places, PT midi beat clock enabled with the correct midi interface, settings on mpc are right)

when you press play in PT, nothing on the mpc moves.... when you press stop in PT, the mpc starts.

it doesn't matter if pads are assigned or not, we are not dealing with the audio aspect of this. we are dealing with the midi aspect. also it doesn't matter if there is an aux track or not. the midi information should still be passed between the 1k and PT. but just to inform.... there was an audio track created in PT and yes, the pads (on the 1k) had the appropriate mixer output settings and the audio track in PT had the correct input no.

I wasn't entirely sure what precisely he was asking, it was a long post and although he did mention midi at the end, I tried covering both. But the midi route I mention is a viable option, correct me if i'm wrong.

no, what you wrote was right. but as stated, all midi connections and configs are the right way.

it's bugging the isht out of me cause i've sync'd the 1k with PT on several occasions with no problem. i dunno. i even went as far as calling digidesign, to no avail. they lead me to their webiste where it talks about connecting the mpc2000 with PT
