An MPC 3000 is a super MPC 60/MPC60II.
An MPC 2000XL is an MPC 2000 w/ an adjustable screen.
An MPC 2500 is a.....
......ok...the MPC 1000 is a beta experiment for what Akai wanted to do in the first place...which was to create/release the 2500 with minimum bugs :D

Other than the fact that the 2500 has good feeling drum pads, better quality faders, Q-Link knobs, CD burning, recordable mutes, mute grouping, and more outputs. They are the same box.

It's the difference in a Chevy Geo and a BMW.

Take a joke dummy we all know that

Its still a 1k but less gay

I didn't realize it was a joke. Jokes are usually funny.
I had a 1000 and it's sexuality never came up. I guess mine knew I was straight.

Because Akai needs to step their game up and fix the dang on thing. I am sorry..but for an MPC to have pads that break and you have to fix with glue...its not worthy to bare the MPC name. Its the worst engineered MPC ever made.

Now..with any luck...maybe Akai will create an MPC 1000XL.

1000XL... what does that mean? a 1000 with a tilted screen? sounds... uninteresting.

Only for the people that have already purchased an MPC 1000......In terms of the XL, if your are implying that the 2000XL has just a tiltable screen over the original 2000, your are incorrect.

Anyway...Akai should just stop playing......add an adjustable screen, give it all the OS functions of the 2500...as well as improve the pads. If not...it will always be known as the first affordable MPC.

wouldnt that make it a 2500 lite... if they put in sturdier pads, 1k isnt all THAT bad..

I'm sure the 2 will be set further apart when future os updates for the 2500 comes over time.

Being a 2500 lite wouldn't be bad at all. I would most likely purchase one if it had all the features and fully compatible with the 2500.

that's just daft, why would akai make two products with the same features in different sizes? no-one would buy the 2500 if the 1k had the same features but was a little smaller/cheaper. unless of course you're saying that they would then be justified in making the two the same price? in that case i suppose you're on to something.........

well, i can actually see that. the differences would lie in hardware only. (hense the justification of the price difference) let the 1k receive every software feature (such as grid edit, continuous track recording, etc...) as the 2500 and the two will still be different.

But then that would just be more of a reason for people to buy the 1k over the 2500, thus meaning Akai/Numark makes even less profit.

From a business point of view, it makes sense to have different software in addition to the hardware to make a defined difference between the two. Otherwise a lot of people will just be wondering why the hell they should bother with the 2500!

But from using both, i still know i'd be more happy with the 2500 whether they had the same features or not.

Sparq, thanks for the PM. I'll let you know if i need anything.

a friend of mine bought a second hand 1000 for $300. some of the buttons are missing like the record botton. and the data knob is off it's track so it's a little difficult to get around on that thing but my point is that he comes comes up with some of the hottest beats. he's making hotter stuff with that busted 1000 than some people with a 4000 or a 2500 so why are you guys so concernd about os's and crappy pads? stop complaining and go make some beats. that's why you bought your mpc's in the first place, right?
