hard drive and dvd drive

what is the official approved dvd drive for the 2500 i see on the web site that they have a list for the hard drive but not the dvd drive im new and i want to make sure i get the correct one if some one have one please let me know which one with the model # greatly appreciated and price also thankz

I think the only disc drive you can use is the official CD-M25 from Akai unfortunately. A few people have tried aftermarket drives with no luck.

As for the hard drive i think just about any 2.5" laptop drive will work. People have been sticking in everything from old 2gb drives up to 100gb items.

I just put an 80gb Fujitsu MHV2080AH in mine yesterday and so far it works fine.

In the 1000 forum a few people said there hard drives were struggling to cope when a lot of folders were used so i'll have to try that out. It will be annoying if true as i like to have lots of folders to keep stuff organized

Akai's CDM25 is the only CDRW/DVD rom drived approved for the 2500. Its costs $150-$200.

did u put it in your self? is it difficult? do i just take off the 2 front screws?

yes,no, yes

its all in the manual. don't know what page off the top of my head but it tells you about the cd-25. i don't own one, but from the looks of it its easy. unscrew a couple things, pull off the plastic piece. and plug it in. seems easy.

but check your manual it has order information also i think.

I don't have my 2500 yet, but I'm gonna buy internal harddrive to it. Does every 2,5"-laptop harddrive work with mpc2500?

take a look at this. this is from the 1000 section but the 1000 and the 2500 uses the same type of drive.

thanks, i checked that out.. one more question, do i have to buy that HDM10 adapter kit for 2500 or what?

The 2500 has the kit already installed. You just need the a hard drive. You can install it within 5-10 minutes.
