Vocal Booth Who built one ?

Has any body built a vocal booth or have pictures with instructions ?
I'm not sure if this is the site but I'm sure somebody posted pictures of their
home made vocal booth, I just moved and got a big @ss basement which will have my studio set up and now I can finally build a vocal booth and not have to resort to a closet anymore . Peace and thanks in advance

does matress foam on the walls and hanging from the ceiling count?

Get a portable one... I forgot the link but it was a new one out for a good price that should work pretty good..

I built mine for around 200 bucks by just getting some ply wood and 4 x 4's at home depot and some of that egg shaped mattress stuff from wal mart...it's not soundproof but it does everything I need it to do...peace.

the cheapest way is to transform any standard household closet. by "completely covering the walls with "real" sound proof insulation preferably wedge nothing below 2" (Pyramid/wedge foam is better than eggcrate) which can be found on ebay for about 70 to 100 dollars for more than enough square feet.

or get about 50 bucks worth of 2x4's and 50 bucks worth of plywood and build you a replica of a closet, and then follow the previous directions, oh and dont forget a door. as long as you construct a box with no air holes and insulate it you cant go wrong, it will be sooo quiet in there .... not to mention hot as a ****. you could also install a little tap light inside.

I built a booth once. It was beautiful. Then I got kicked out of the building I was in. Anyway, dont forget your window. It isn't necessary but it helps with the communication process. I tried really hard to describe how to do it but it is hard to understand without pictures. If I can dig something up, I'll post later.

You can also go to www.futureproducers.com they have something there which gives you exact directions to make a sound proof vocal booth. Peace.

I made one once with old sterilized mattresses I got at a thrift store for 30 bucks each. Best recordings I ever did came out that set up I had. I seen photo's of Rick Rubin's home studio he had the same shit goin on thats where i got the idea from

Good Idea but just wrong way of doing it

the so-called "cheap studio foam" stuff only absorbs the high-end while most closet-booths' problems lie at the low end. Get some Real Traps if you can..just google them.

Yeah i built my booth and my dad helped out a lil. Its a 4x4 but gets da job done. Its insulated wit heavy thick carpet in da inside and foam padding on the outside. I used a bunch of used wood but the frame was built from new wood. I have a pic its old though. But i will get u some updated pics of how its lookin now. Buildin a studio takes an ass of time. I swear it does. LOL. But um if u need some help get at yo GIRL sometimes.
