i see you spotted my dreamcast setup underneath. i share my computer monitor with the dreamcast through an a/b switch, since i have the vga adaptor which blows away using a tv set.

yeah bro... you already know the whole story behind rob ray and his bullsh!t. i would've been better off sending the defective unit in to vst for a warranty repair, had i known how shady the customer service at akai are.

Hey Tekno,

Did you bend those incantors (Speak & Spell, etc) yourself? I've been trying to find some to try and mess with, but I haven't had enough time recently to dig hard enough on the thrift store circuit...

yeah, i bent the speak & read myself, as well as the roland tr-626. i'm still looking to add more bends to the speak & read before i bend the speak & spell and speak & math. i never had any luck finding them in thrift stores, goodwills, salvation army stores, so i copped them all on ebay. if you want to know more about circuit-bending, visit http://www.anti-theory.com/.

There's tonnes of pics of my studio over the years here: http://mux.ca/gearpics.html

I haven't done any mods to my MPC1000 yet, but I'm on it - a cabinetmaker friend of mine offered to do some work for me a few weeks ago, and I'mma get him to make me some nice polished hardwood end-cheeks to replace those ugly, shitty red plastic ones... gonna do the same for my Behringer BFR2000 as well.

LOL, I always read this comment as "nice studio, if it were TWENTY YEARS AGO!!" :D

Well, I thought I was ahead of the game, it took me about 8 hours to get it together (I've done a bunch of kits and mods before), but then there were a few bits that I screwed up and had to hunt down... overall, I'd say it took about 14 hours to get it all together and working.

I dunno how much difference the BA662 chip makes, but I put one in anyway, ripped it out of an old Boss HC-2 Handclapper pedal. I'm *very* happy with the sound tho, and there's a bunch of people working on the (opensourced) OS, adding new features like pattern copy, pattern shift, swing, etc... it's already a pretty great little box, but it's still getting better. :)
