song mode

say i got a sequence that is 16 bars and i want to mute the kick for certain parts(like somewhere in the middle) and some other instruments how do i do that????

Press track mute and when you come to the part you want to mute press the pad that repersents the track at hand.......do this for any other tracks you choose to mute on and off

You don' t tell if you want to record this mute for your kick or other instrument,or if you just need this when you play the sequence...

You can also erase those parts by using the erase button. Just make you know where you are within that measure that you want the instrument to dropout at. Then erase just that section.

The sequence, mute out the parts and name each sequence, ex. Intro, Break, Bridge, End and then you compose your song in song mode so that each sequence is reflected in proper order. You also can convert an entire song to a sequence for further editing.

My fault I should have made it clearer.......but for some of us some thing are a given

dont understand when u say just mute the parts you want muted, you cant do it from the mute screen while recording and you cant just hit the track mute button while recording.

The important factor is to COPY the sequence and then go in and mute out the tracks that you may not desire to hear in a certain part of the song, like intro or something. The theory we are discussing, as what most producers do, is to create a MEAT track and then use that as a basis for the song. If you have ever made Gumbo, it starts with Rue and then you add the ingredients, you don't have the same Gumbo each time nor does everyone make it the same but it is still Gumbo. lol, hope I didn't go to far with that one.

I am not in front of my MPC, maybe someone can try and go to track mute while recording. But either way you will have to play the seq. and mute the tracks that you don't want to play in order to forecast your song. If you are trying to make breaks or "rests" that is another topic. I am not sure what you are trying to do now.

There is no way to record mutes. However you can either delete tracks or mute them within a sequence/track. But you can't have it both ways in one sequence, I mean the track is either muted or it is playing along with the other parts of your sequence. This is why we suggest that you always separate your tracks, meaning track one :kick, track two: snare etc; this way you don't have the problem you're stuck with. Now the only way to fix your problem is to either start all over or solo each track and try to isolate the sounds, then copy the track however many times to give each sound on that original track its own designated track.

Start off doing Track by Track and you can never fail. If you want to delete a part of a track, after you copy the sequence, go in and ERASE the part of the track that is undesired. You can have the original and the altered sequence to build your song from so that you won't have to start all over. Must be a bangin track, I would have started over. WORD to the wise, if just starting out---Start with 2Bar patterns and just DEMO and LEARN don't be over involved in making good music just yet. Learn the machine and then TAME it.

The 2k,2kxl is different and less flexible than ASR10.

You MUST make copies of a SEQ, matter of fact make a bunch of copies.
Edit EACH one of those SEQ's how you want the mutes to play out.
Chain them together in the order you desire them to play out and that's that.

You have to be more creative in the way you form your work-arounds solution cause not all gear can perform the same functions but some functions you CAN mimmick with a little imagination.

You should have known that already..
