I use a "Microtech Branded" drive.

With a SANDISK media card installed my MPC3000 dev lab SCSI test tool identifies is as:

"MicTec DPAI-SCSI c2.7INTPCD-15"

With a MY-DISK media card installed my MPC3000 dev lab SCSI test tool identifies it as:

"MicTec DPAI-SCSI c2.7INTPCD-15"

Windows reports it as:

"MicTec DPAI-SCSI SCSI Disk Device"

The ADAPTEC BIOS in my development PC reports it as:

"MicTec DPAI-SCSI, rev c2.7INTPCD-15"

SCSI RESET on the development PC reports is as:

"MicTec, DPAI-SCSI, ver c2.7"

The drive is marked as a MicroTech PCD25BH on it's external panel.

On it's circuit board it is marked as an Intermart PCD25BSF.

The MPC3000 formats, reads and writes to this drive fine.

Hope this helps.

Rohan.

hah, now we are getting some where...
OK, this helps bigtime.
If I remember correctly the PCD-15B comes up as 2.6 in the firmware.
I guess the other question would be, has anyone gotten a PCD-15B to work with a 3000 and if so what are the markings on the PCB. OR, has anyone ever experienced this only writing 1k and then showing the disk error/corrupt when trying to load the saved sounds?
Has it ever been beat or is it a flaw in how the MPC interfaces with the drive?

I guess the goal would be to evolve the advice as to what works with the 3000 to save people from the personal heel I am experiencing with this.

I had a PCD-15/15B given to me by a friend in the USA ( thanks friend ) and used it for some time with my MPC3000 before passing it along to another mate in need who owns an MPC2000XL.

Can't remember the model/marking details exactly or the firmware revision either.

I will find out though.

Rohan.

lord radio, is there a reason why you dont wanna go external? seems like youre ready to throw in the towel on the 3k.

By lord radio Wed Mar 08, 2006 3:36 am
man i could never stop using the 3k...but ill be damned if I ever use a zip again. if someone has an external that works wiht the 3K let me know as well..I'll take anything at this point. :?

OK reading between the lines....

someone in that soulstrut thread mentioned that you could use a PCMCIA multi card reader as long as you had a SCSI to PCMCIA lead?

Is this correct?

If so this would be a great cheap solution for our team. We've got 11 Zip disks and about 5 years work nothing backed up yet! We haven't had a click of death yet and I don't want to tempt fate but I know its coming. This is all on a 2KXL but I personally use a 60 and 3000 and save my gear to ZIPs too. So I could do with the PCMCIA thing above IF it works :?:

S'up Thes???

I remember your thread about he card readers and the 3k.
My handle over there is E.Daily btw...

So The one you purchased just a week ago didnt work?
I really really really need an external baaadd. The piles of Zips and Floppies are starting to look like skyscrapers here.
Hope we can find a cheap solution.

No.. unfortuantely and contrary to everything I read, that PCD-15B did not work with the 3000. I have jsut found a PCD-25BSF like the one listed above and will be trying it today. I will update. If this one does not work, then I would state that, for the most part, the CF with the 3K is a myth.

just buy some externals on ebay and try them out...see which works, it'ns ot much of a monetary loss....

a friend of mine says he has an internal memory card, and a hard drive internally

Messed with all types of terminations just like Thes & got the same results, still not working.
...so according to mpc3000le's test above and the few of you who lucked out with a working one I'm now assuming this is a firmware issue.
All these early PCD's seem to be pretty much the same model just rebranded and different firmware on 'em.
Version 2.7 works, eh?
I emailed SCM Microsystems but I doubt they'll have much to say, so can anybody here upload a working firmware version?
