I am in the market for buying a MIDI keyboard. Someone recommended the microKORG and I got to mess with it at a local guitar center. It has a lot of cool features but I don't hitnk I will need most of it. I am going to be mostly hiphop songs. The microK seems like it cater more to the dance/techno type stuff. Is there anyone who uses this keyboard to rock hip hop. I have an MPC 1000 and all I need is a MIDI keyboard to finish my set for what a newbie can do. If a microKORG doesn't seem right for my application can you guys recommend something else. Make and Model will be nice. Something with features that let me tweek my samples, like filters, etc..

its all in how u use those sounds. alot of the sounds are for dance n techno sh!t but u can use them for hip hop. ive made a few beats with just the micro korg and most of the sounds ive used werent from the hip hop bank. you can also send sound into it and its filters and effects

I hate when people say a synth caters directly to dance or techno.

Moog
Studio Electronics

Both of those company's make synths that produce "dance/techno" sounds. Yet both have been used on countless hip hop tracks.

Dont mind me I'm just ranting...

Korg is making a new 'micro' series keyboard that might be better for your needs. microX or something its called i think? its like a miniature triton or something.
