wow...never knew the pads were all seperate on the 1k.

on the 2k, the pads are all connected together on one big rubber 'sheet'

yeah, on every mpc the pads are together everyone except for the 1k.

the way they should have been on the 1k...

oh ok...i wonder why they made it this way on the 1k..maybe a different approach when they did this model...

nym, does it bug you? lol you think the sensons under the pads may break more often because of it? just curious...

nah. i've never heard of the sensors breaking, only the graphite. those sensors are pretty damn tough.

so the breaking pad problem is the sheet that goes between the rubber pad and the sensor ?

nah, the sheet's fine. it's the glue that connects the sheet in between the rubber and the sensor - there's just not enough of it.

o ic so it causes that sheet to break without enough glue, i get now.

the carbon/graphite sheet won't break due to the lack of glue, from what i've seen. it just displaces it's position to where it doesnt align with the sensor. you'll know if that happens when only half or part of the pad will trigger.

ic , but can you replace the graphite with a bigger piece, if it goes outta place ?

if there's no damage to the graphite (which is extremely rare), then there's no need to replace it. replacing it with a bigger piece won't make the pads any more responsive than the original size, since the sensor is roughly 1/2" square. like i said before, the problem is the glue that akai originally used. since i re-glued 3 of my pads with 100% silicone, they're like new again.

o ok , now i got it . so its not really a big problem with the pads all you do is open it and reglue it , people make it a bigger deal right?

has anybody rebroke the repaied pads, yet?

it depends on the individual. if you're comfortable with taking gear apart and you have the patience to work carefully, it's really easy to do. it's a bit time consuming how i went about it (as i explained earlier in this thread).
