Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My question is this...
If I install an Akai authorized MCD for my 2000XL (floppy version),
do I need to upgrade the OS to v1.20?????

Thanks!

It's up to you depending on the Gb size of flash card.

Straight from the Akai website:
MPC2000XL
OS V1.20 for the MPC2000XL MCD drives only.

OS V1.14 for the MPC2000XL with zip and floppy.

If the MCD works fine with OS1.14, then keep 1.14. If it doesn't work, then upgrade to OS1.2.

Hi,
If you do that and the mcd doesn't work, you'll must to replace the floppydrive. So, It's better to upgrade in OS V1.20 before to install the mcd reader/writter.
It's not music here but an OS.

No first install the reader and then do the upgrade if needed. The cardreader will work fine with OS v1.14 if the reader is ok, OS1.20 is not needed for that.

Thanks everyone....

I contacted VST (authorized Akai service company) and I was told to upgrade the OS v1.20 first, and then install the MCD.
If you are not sure of this, you might want to contact them and ask....

Thanks again!

So many cats here have posted about issues regarding internal zipdrives becoming un accessible after upgrading to os1.20 that it's just considered wiser to first make sure your cf card reader is function correctly b4 even attempting to upgrade to OS v1.20. A correctly functioning cf reader does not need os v1.20 to work.
