I think I've decided on the 2000XL-MCD

So I've been considering wether to go from 1000 to the 2500 or the 2000XL-MCD. I think I've pretty much decided on the 2000XL-MCD - these are my main reasons:

- Its practically bug free.
- Pads that have proven their strength over time
- It just looks tighter.

Any thoughts, or any major points ive missed before I go into purchasemode?

It all depends on what 'YOU' are lookin for. What are your needs as far as a drum machine/sequencer/sampler are concerned ? Do you need more than 32mb of memory ? Do you need more than two MIDI IN's and OUT's ? Before you spend any dough, you should do a very thorough comparison of ALL the machines you're thinkin about purchasin. The 2500 has more features than the 2kxl, so you should determine whether or not these 'new features' will help you accomplish your goal in the long run. Not to sound like a d**k, but... there's more to it than how a machine looks.

you should really try and mess with a 2000xl thoroughly before you make the switch!

my 1000 died, and a good friend had a 2000xl lieing around so he let me borrow it. true, the pads feel better....but there are ALOT of things that make me wish i still had my 1000.

you know, little things you get used to on the 1000 that aren't on the XL.
i've only had this XL for a week or two so people on here please feel free to correct me...

but there's little things like you can't just set a whole program to to have the pads cut each other off. you have to set each individual pad to cut off three other pads (at max). only a low pass filter. gotta go back to copy/paste/delete events in step edit instead of the move option in the 1000. step edit screen only shows the events that occur at the particular time you have set in the time screen. lots of functions you have to hit stop to access (while on the 1000 the beat can play continuosly while you access these same functions). processor is slower too (go to the trim screen on a long sample and you will see what i mean). can't play a sequence while in the record screen....

none of these are deal breakers. dont get me wrong.
the XL is a dope machine. but if i already had a 1000, would i throw down money to switch to an XL?
nah...

ultimately it comes down to what you are most comfortable with. i'd say you should really try and make a couple beats on an XL to make sure its the right choice for you...dont just mess with it for 5 minutes and decide this is the machine to buy. really sit down with it...

locate +step together will take you to the next event, no matter what the main menu timing is set to.

Yep, and to explain a little, YOU do your comparison, don't be like some and just ASK for a comparison, you gotta put in work, it's your money and ultimately your decision. You do what's best for you and your production.

Yeah lampdog, I've put in ALOT of time comparing these MPC's - however, you can never read about bugs or pad quality in manuals, so I figured I'd ask here.
