using an external zip drive?

can someone help me? i have an external zip-100 scsi drive. i hooked it up all perfectly to my mpc-2000, and went to load the drum kits from a zip disk i have. but when i go to the "load" screen, and try to change the "device," from floppy to zip, it says "wait..." and then doesn't do anything, staying on "wait..." until i have to turn it off. how can i get it to recognize my zip drive???

Maybe ,you have to turn on FIRST the ZIP drive,then you turn the MPC on,that's what i do each time i want to use my MPC(2k) and it works fine, BTW i don't use a floppy anymore......hope it can help you.....

Put your OS on the zip disk, and when you turn on your MPC it will automatically boot from the zip disk and this will be the default loading/saving device. This is how I do. I use the original 2000 by the way, maybe this doesn't work on an XL?
